Tearii Alpha
Tearii Te Moana Alpha (born 5 December 1971) is a French Polynesian politician. Since 2014 he has served as Mayor of Teva I Uta. He was Vice-President of the territory briefly in 2011, and again from 2020-2021. He is a founding member of Tahoeraa Huiraatira. In 1997 Alpha completed a thesis in biological sciences at the French Pacific University. In October 2004 he was appointed Minister of Fisheries in the government of Gaston Flosse. In December of that year he was appointed as head of Tahoeraa Huiraatira's youth wing. He later served as Minister of Lands. On 2 March 2011 he was appointed as Vice President by Gaston Tong Sang, replacing Édouard Fritch. He ran for the French National Assembly as a candidate for To Tatou Aia in the 2012 election. Édouard Fritch
Winfred Édouard Tereori Fritch (born 4 January 1952) is a French politician who has served as President of French Polynesia since 2014. He previously presided over the Assembly of French Polynesia on three occasions: from April 2007 to February 2008, from February 2009 to April 2009 and from May 2013 to September 2014. Until 2015, Fritch was co-president of Tahoera'a Huiraatira, a pro-French political party, before he became president of the newly-established Tapura Huiraatira. He became a member of the Assembly of French Polynesia in 1986. He was reelected in 1991, 1996, 2001, 2004, 2008 and 2013. He served as a cabinet minister in French Polynesia several times between 1984 and 2011. Nicole Bouteau
Nicole Bouteau (born 1969) is a French Polynesian politician. She is a member of the Assembly of French Polynesia and a former Minister of Tourism. Education Bouteau has a masters degree from the University of French Polynesia. Political career Bouteau is a member of the Assembly of French Polynesia, representing the Windward Islands (''Iles du vent'') in 2003-2008 and since May 2013. 2018 French Polynesian Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in French Polynesia on 22 April and 6 May 2018. On 22 April 2018, voters cast their ballots in the first round of the election to the Assembly of French Polynesia. A second round was held on 6 May 2018 for the three political parties that exceeded 12.5 percent of the vote in the first round. The new Tapura Huiraatira party emerged as the largest in the Assembly, winning 38 of the 57 seats. Valentina Cross
Valentina Hina Cross (born 1964) is a French Polynesian politician and Member of the Assembly of French Polynesia. From 2008 to 2014 she served as mayor of Teva I Uta. She is a member of Tavini Huiraatira. She was elected mayor of Teva I Uta in 2008. She lost the mayoralty in the 2014 municipal elections. Cross first served in the Assembly of French Polynesia from 2001 to 2004. She was re-elected at the 2008 French Polynesian legislative election, and again on the Union For Democracy (UPLD) list at the 2013 election. In May 2016 she was charged with defamation by then-Vice president Nuihau Laurey over comments made during a debate about electricity supply. Gaston Flosse
Gaston Flosse (born 24 June 1931) is a French politician who has been President of French Polynesia on five separate occasions. He is currently a member of the Senate of France and has been a French junior minister under Jacques Chirac. He received sentences for corruption, which are under appeal. Life and career Flosse was born in Rikitea, Mangareva, French Polynesia. He is of both French and Polynesian descent. Flosse supports the current autonomy arrangement between French Polynesia and France and has led the conservative pro-autonomy and anti-independence party Tahoera'a Huiraatira (People's Rally for the Republic Party) for more than 20 years. He was the vice-president of the government council from 1982 to 1984, when more autonomy was gained and he became President of the Governing Council.
