Team Hawaii
Team Hawaii was a soccer team based out of Honolulu that played in the NASL for one season, 1977. Their home field was Aloha Stadium. After two unsuccessful years as the San Antonio Thunder, the franchise moved to Hawai'i in time for the 1977 season. The club was originally coached by Hubert Vogelsinger, but after he became ill midway through the season, Charlie Mitchell took over and served as player-coach for the remainder of the campaign. On the field, Hawaii had an 11-15 record and failed to qualify for the playoffs; at the box office, the team never came close to filling their 50,000-seat stadium. (A decent crowd of 12,877 attended their match against the New York Cosmos in April, but none of their other twelve home games drew even half of that; they managed only 4,543 per game for the season.) Chris Carenza
Christopher James "Chris" or "CJ" Carenza is a retired American soccer defender who played professionally in the North American Soccer League. College Carenza, son of Hall of Famer Joe Carenza, Sr. and brother of John Carenza, graduated from St. Mary's High School in St. Louis, Missouri in 1970. He attended Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville where he played on the men's soccer team from 1971 to 1974. In 1972, he led the team in scoring and scored the winning goal in the NCAA Men's Division II Soccer Championship. He was also a 1974 Honorable Mention All American. In 2005, SIUE inducted Carenza into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame. He was inducted into the St. Louis Soccer Hall of Fame in 2004. Pat Holland
Patrick "Patsy" Holland (born 13 September 1950) is an English former footballer who played for clubs West Ham United, Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic and Team Hawaii. Holland has also coached and scouted for teams such as Leyton Orient, Tottenham Hotspur, Queens Park Rangers and Arsenal. Career Holland was born in Poplar, London. A midfielder, he made his professional debut for West Ham United in 1969. He became an integral player for the club playing in the team that won the 1975 FA Cup Final. He also played in the European Cup Winners Cup final of 1976, where he scored one of West Ham's goals in a 4–2 loss to Anderlecht. Holland sustained a knee injury in a game against Notts County on 17 January 1981. Despite this, he earned a winner's medal as West Ham won the Second Division in 1981. Diamantino José Vieira da Costa (born 29 February 1948) is a Portuguese retired footballer who played as a left winger Over the course of 14 seasons, he amassed Primeira Liga totals of 215 games and eighteen goals, mainly at Benfica, where he won eight major titles. Tim Hunter (soccer)
Tim Hunter (born March 3, 1954) is a retired Canadian-American soccer player who played professionally in the North American Soccer League. Born in Canada, Hunter and his brother Paul grew up in Westport, Connecticut. In 1971, he graduated from Staples High School where he was a member of four consecutive state championship soccer teams. In 2008, he was voted among the best midfielders and forwards to play for the school's soccer team. Hunter attended the University of Connecticut where he played on the men's soccer team from 1972 to 1974. He was a 1972 and 1974 Honorable Mention (third team) All American. Hunter was on the American team at the 1975 Pan American Games. Keith Coleman (born 24 May 1951) is an English retired footballer who played as a fullback. He collected an UEFA Cup Winners' Cup runners-up medal in 1976 while playing for West Ham United. Biography Coleman was born on 24 May 1951 in Washington, Tyne and Wear. He began his career at Sunderland in 1971, where he made 49 appearances, scoring two goals. He joined West Ham in September 1973 for a transfer fee of £20,000 and made his debut in a home game against Burnley in October 1973. Tommy Taylor (footballer, Born 1951)
Thomas Frederick Taylor (born 26 September 1951) is an English football manager and former footballer. As a footballer, he played as a defender. He is currently the head coach of Europa Point. Playing career Taylor played for Orient, helping them to promotion to Division Two, and captained the England youth team. He won 13 caps for the England Under-23 team, but never made a senior appearance. Taylor joined West Ham United in October 1970 and was a member of the team that won the FA Cup in 1975. Peter Nover (born 18 July 1949) is a German former professional footballer who played as a defender in the 2. Bundesliga, North American Soccer League and Mexican Primera División. Career Born in Holzheim, Rhineland-Palatinate, Nover began playing football with amateurs Itzehoer SV 1909. He turned professional with Regionalliga Südwest side 1.
