Tbilisi Avenue
Tbilisi Avenue ( az, Tbilisi prospekti) is an arterial road in northern part of Baku, capital of Azerbaijan. It begins at the intersection of Bakikhanov and Jaffar Jabbarly streets and continues north terminating at 20 January Circle by 20 January metro station. Overview The avenue was renamed Tbilisi Avenue from its earlier name Saray Highway on September 13, 1963, by the Baku Executive Soviet. Different from its current length, it stretched further to the outskirts of Baku up to the settlement of Khyrdalan just outside Baku and connect to Baku-Quba highway, but that portion of the avenue was renamed to Moscow Avenue on June 14, 2004, by Mayor of Baku Hajibala Abutalybov due to the earlier renaming on that day of a bigger highway leading from central Baku to the Heydar Aliyev International Airport from Moscow Avenue to Heydar Aliyev Avenue. Quba () is a city and the administrative centre of the Quba District of Azerbaijan. The city lies on the north-eastern slopes of Shahdag mountain, at an altitude of 600 metres above sea level, on the right bank of the Kudyal river. It has a population of 38,100 (2010). Mehdi Huseynzade Monument ( az, Mehdi Hüseynzadənin heykəli) - is a monument to the Azerbaijani partisan of the Second World War, Hero of the Soviet Union, Mekhti Huseynzade, and was installed in 1973 in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku, in the park along the Bakikhanov street near the northern entrance into the city. The sculptor is Fuad Abdurakhmanov, the Peoples Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR, the architect is Mikael Useinov, the Peoples Architect of the USSR. The expressive figure of Mehdi Huseynzade in a fluttering cloak and with a grenade in his right hand stands on an unworked block of granite. As noted by the art critic Kamil Mammadzade, the attention is drawn to "the accuracy of the proportions ratio of the sculptural and architectural parts. Black January ( az, Qara Yanvar), also known as Black Saturday or the January Massacre, was a violent crackdown on the civilian population of Baku on 19–20 January 1990, as part of a state of emergency during the dissolution of the Soviet Union. General Secretary of the Soviet Communist Party Mikhail Gorbachev and Defence Minister Dmitry Yazov asserted that military law was necessary to thwart efforts by the Azerbaijani independence movement to overthrow the Soviet Azerbaijani government. Heydar Aliyev International Airport ( az, Heydar Aliyev adına Beynəlxalq Hava Limanı) (IATA: GYD, ICAO: UBBB) is one of the seven international airports serving Azerbaijan. Formerly, it was called Bina International Airport after a suburb of Baku. On 10 March 2004, the airport was renamed after president Heydar Aliyev. The airport is 20 kilometers northeast of Azerbaijan capital Baku, connected to the city by a highway. The airport serves as the hub for national carriers Azerbaijan Airlines and Buta Airways. Hajibala Ibrahim oglu Abutalybov ( az, Hacıbala İbrahim oğlu Abutalıbov, born May 13, 1944) is an Azerbaijani politician. He was Mayor of Baku between 2001 and 2018 and deputy prime minister of Azerbaijan from 2018 to October 2019. Abutalybov was born in Kyzyl-Su, Turkmenistan. He graduated from Azerbaijan State University with a degree in Physics in 1965. In 1969, he was enrolled in post graduate program at Ioffe Physical-Technical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Xırdalan
Xırdalan () is a city, municipality and the capital of the Absheron District of Azerbaijan. It has a population of 95,200. Khyrdalan is home of country's biggest brewery ''Baltika Baku'', previously known as Khyrdalan . A monument to Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak was erected in 2007 in the city. Similarly, a statue of Heydar Aliyev was erected in Cairo in 2008.
