Taşpınar, Aksaray
Taşpınar is a town (''belde'') and municipality in the Aksaray District, Aksaray Province, Turkey. Its population is 2,759 (2021). Geography Taşpınar is in the Anatolian plateau, just west of Mount Hasan. The average altitude is . History The earliest residents of the village were the members of a tribe from Azerbaijan in 1515. Eventually, people from nearby villages also settled in Taşpınar. Meanwhile, a group of Taşpınar residents chose to live in Hotamış, another town roughly south west of Taşpınar. In 1957 Taşpınar was declared a seat of township. Economy The main economic activity is handmade rugs. Taşpınar rugs are especially famous for their high density of knots. Belde
Belde (literally "town", also known as ''kasaba'') means "large village with a municipality" in Turkish. All Turkish province centers and district centers have municipalities, but the villages (and also subdistricts) are usually too small to have municipalities. The population in some villages may exceed 2000 and in such villages a small municipality may be established depending on residents' choice. Such villages are called ''belde''. Up to 2014 the number of ''belde'' municipalities was about 1400. However, on 30 March 2014 by the act no. 6360 all villages (those with and without municipality) were included in the urban fabric of the district municipalities in 30 provinces. Thus ''belde'' municipalities in 30 provinces were abolished. The number of abolished ''belde'' municipalities is 1040. Aksaray Province ( tr, ) is a province in central Turkey. Its adjacent provinces are Konya along the west and south, Niğde to the southeast, Nevşehir to the east, and Kırşehir to the north. It covers an area of . The provincial capital is the city of Aksaray. Aksaray is one of the four provinces in the area of Cappadocia, along with Nevşehir, Niğde and Kayseri. Mount Hasan
Mount Hasan ( tr, Hasan Dağı) is a volcano in Anatolia, Turkey. It has two summits, the high eastern Small Hasan Dagi and the high Big Hasan Dagi, and rises about above the surrounding terrain. It consists of various volcanic deposits, including several calderas, and its activity has been related to the presence of several faults in the area and to regional tectonics. Activity began in the Miocene and continued into the Holocene; a mural found in the archeological site of Çatalhöyük have been controversially interpreted as showing a volcanic eruption or even a primitive map. It was the second mountain from the south in the Byzantine beacon system used to warn the Byzantine capital of Constantinople of incursions during the Arab–Byzantine wars.
