Taylor Cummings
Taylor Cummings is a lacrosse midfielder, formerly for the University of Maryland's women's lacrosse team. Winning the Tewaaraton Trophy in 2014, 2015, and 2016, Cummings was once regarded as the best female collegiate lacrosse player in the country. She helped the Maryland Terrapins win two National Championships in 2014 and in 2015. In 2015, Cummings was nominated for the Best Female College Athlete ESPY Award. She is also a 2015–2016 U.S. National team member. Cummings finished her collegiate lacrosse career for Maryland in the spring of 2016 as a senior captain. While Cummings pushed through the season with an undefeated record, the Maryland Terrapins fell short on May 29, 2016 in the NCAA National Championship to the Carolina Tar Heels. Field Lacrosse
Field lacrosse is a full contact outdoor men's sport played with ten players on each team. The sport originated among Native Americans, and the modern rules of field lacrosse were initially codified by Canadian William George Beers in 1867. Field lacrosse is one of three major versions of lacrosse played internationally. The rules of men's lacrosse differ significantly from women's field lacrosse (established in the 1890s). The two are often considered to be different sports with a common root. Another version, box lacrosse (originated in the 1930s) is also played under different rules. 2016 UWLX Season
The 2016 United Women's Lacrosse League season, the first in the history of the UWLX, started on May 28, 2016 and ended with the league championship game on July 31, 2016 in which the Long Island Sound defeated the Boston Storm in a 13-8 final. The first game in league history took place on May 28, 2016 at Goodman Stadium at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Opposing the Baltimore Ride, Long Island prevailed by a 13-12 tally. The team's first-ever goal was scored by McKinley Curro, who would also score the league's first-ever two-point goal. Devon Wills served as the starting goaltender, allowing the first goal in UWLX history to Baltimore's Beth Glaros, while also registering the first win in league history. The 2022 World Lacrosse Women's World Championship, the 11th World Lacrosse Women's World Championship, Women's World Championship (previously known as the Women's Lacrosse World Cup), is the preeminent international women's lacrosse tournament. The Women's Professional Lacrosse League (WPLL) was a women's lacrosse league in the United States. The league was formally composed of five teams: the Brave, Command, Fight, Fire, and Pride. The league announced on February 27, 2020, that it would restructure and downsize the league to four teams, which would ultimately be: the Brave, Command, Fight, and Pride. League play started on Saturday, June 2, 2018.
