Boston Storm (UWLX)
The Boston Storm are a United Women's Lacrosse League (UWLX) professional women's field lacrosse team based in Boston, Massachusetts. They have played in the UWLX since the 2016 season. In the 2017 season, the four teams in the UWLX played in a barnstorming format, with all four teams playing at a single venue. Franchise History The Boston Storm is one of the original four teams of the United Women's Lacrosse League (UWXL). UWLX was founded by Digit Murphy and Aronda Kirby in a strategic partnership with STX. On February 23, 2016, Bowen Holden was named as the first general manager in franchise history. On March 17, 2016, Amy Patton was announced as the Storm's first head coach. 2016 UWLX Season
The 2016 United Women's Lacrosse League season, the first in the history of the UWLX, started on May 28, 2016 and ended with the league championship game on July 31, 2016 in which the Long Island Sound defeated the Boston Storm in a 13-8 final. The first game in league history took place on May 28, 2016 at Goodman Stadium at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Opposing the Baltimore Ride, Long Island prevailed by a 13-12 tally. The team's first-ever goal was scored by McKinley Curro, who would also score the league's first-ever two-point goal. Devon Wills served as the starting goaltender, allowing the first goal in UWLX history to Baltimore's Beth Glaros, while also registering the first win in league history. Sarah Bullard
Sarah Bullard McDaniel (born August 14, 1988 ) is an American women's lacrosse player. Having played with the Duke Blue Devils at the collegiate level, she was named to the US national team for the 2015–16 season. In 2016, she was selected by the Boston Storm with their third pick overall in the inaugural United Women's Lacrosse League Draft. Playing career NCAA Having graduated from Duke in 2011, Bullard logged 167 points and scored 141 times. During the 2010 season, she set career highs in goals (48), assists (11) and points (59). Major League Lacrosse
Major League Lacrosse (MLL) was a men's field lacrosse league in the United States. The league's inaugural season was in 2001. Teams played anywhere from ten to 16 games in a summertime regular season. This was followed by a four-team playoff for the championship trophy, the Steinfeld Trophy, named after founder Jake Steinfeld. League attendance peaked at 6,417 in 2011 and the 2019 average was 4,587. The Chesapeake Bayhawks and New York Lizards (originally the Baltimore Bayhawks and Long Island Lizards) were MLL members throughout its existence and competed in the first three championship games, with the Lizards winning two. Kayla Treanor
Kayla Treanor (born November 20, 1993) is an American women’s lacrosse coach for the Syracuse University Women's Lacrosse team. Prior to this position, she was an assistant coach for Harvard and Boston College. Having played with the Syracuse Orange at the collegiate level, she was named to the US national team 2013 onwards. Upon graduating from Syracuse, she was signed as a free agent by the Boston Storm of the United Women's Lacrosse League. She also played for the New York Fight in the Women's Professional Lacrosse League. In 2016, Treanor signed a deal to become the face of Nike Women's Lacrosse. Playing career At Niskayuna High School, Treanor was a top goal scorer for the school and three-time US Lacrosse All-American.
