Tapiolan Honka
Tapiolan Honka is a basketball club based in Espoo, Finland. Their men's team plays in Korisliiga and their women's team plays in Naisten Korisliiga, both on highest tiers of Finnish basketball. History It was founded as a sports club Tapion Honka in 1957. The basketball section separated in 1975 under the name of Tapiolan Honka. Nowadays the club has 700 licensed players and over 1200 total members in different age categories. From 1975 onwards, the men's first team was known as Espoon Honka. The team was dissolved in 2011 and a new team was founded under the original name Tapiolan Honka. Korisliiga
The Korisliiga is the top-tier professional basketball league in Finland, comprising the top 12 teams of the country. In its current format, each team plays all other teams two times in the regular season, once at home and once away, for a total of 22 regular season games. The top six teams advances continues to upper stage and the bottom six teams plays lower stage after 22 games, 5 games at home and 5 games at away versus all other teams in stage. The best two teams from lower group joins to playoffs with upper group teams. Playoffs are played best of seven format, except the quarter-finals which are played best of 5 format. Pantterit holds the record for the most league titles won, with 14. The top level Finnish league for women is the Naisten Korisliiga. Anton Odabasi
Ozan Anton Odabasi (born 8 August 1995) is a Finnish-Turkish professional basketball player for Galatasaray S.K. (men's basketball), Galatasaray of the Turkish Basketbol Süper Ligi (BSL) and the EuroCup Basketball, EuroCup. Odabasi grew up with the Tapiolan Honka. He moved to Fenerbahçe Ülker in summer 2012 but in 2013 he returned to Honka. He was named Korisliiga Rookie of the Year in season 2013-14, finishing with averages of 8,0 points and 3,9 rebounds per game. Haiden Denise Palmer (born March 28, 1991 in Moreno Valley, California) is an American former basketball player. She played college basketball for Oregon State and Gonzaga before going on to play professionally. She won the Icelandic championship and Icelandic Cup with Snæfell in 2016 while being named the Foreign Player of the Year, Playoffs MVP and the Cup MVP. Wilesia "Lele" Hardy (born September 6, 1988) is an American former professional basketball player. Annika Alexandra Holopainen (born 4 August 1993) is a Finnish professional basketball player and a member of the Finnish national team. Uolevi Manninen (7 April 1937 – 10 November 2009) was a Finnish Olympic basketball player and businessman. Born in Äänekoski, Uolevi Manninen was involved in Finland's most successful basketball team, which participated in the Tokyo Olympics in 1964 and finished in 11th place, and Finland finished sixth place in the European Championships held in 1967. Naisten Korisliiga
Naisten Korisliiga (Women's Basketball League) is the highest tier of women's basketball in Finland. The competition was formerly known as Koripallon naisten SM-sarja (Women's Basketball Finnish Championship) and was renamed Naisten Korisliiga for the 2013-14 season. History Women's Finnish Championship was first introduced in 1944. The first championship was won by Helsingin Tarmo. In the 1940s, the league had six teams and the title was awarded after the regular season. In 1953 the number of teams was raised to ten.
