Taocun–Weihai Railway
The Taocun–Weihai railway is a passenger and freight railway line between Taocun and Weihai in China. History The railway was approved on 1 June 1989 and construction began on 28 November 1990. Trial operation began on 26 March 1995 and the first passenger services were introduced in 1996. In July 2020, work began on electrifying the line. The project will also see the maximum speed raised from to . The branch to Weihai Port will also be upgraded, increasing the linespeed from to . Route The line has the following stations: * Taocun (Lancun–Yantai railway) * Rushan * Wendeng *Weihai ( Qingdao–Rongcheng intercity railway) Since its opening in 2014, it has been significantly quicker to use the Qingdao–Rongcheng intercity railway to reach Weihai. Yantai
Yantai, formerly known as Chefoo, is a coastal prefecture-level city on the Shandong Peninsula in northeastern Shandong province of the People's Republic of China. Lying on the southern coast of the Bohai Strait, Yantai borders Qingdao on the southwest and Weihai on the east, with sea access to both the Bohai Sea (via the Laizhou Bay and the Bohai Strait) and the Yellow Sea (from both north and south sides of the Shandong Peninsula). It is the largest fishing seaport in Shandong. Its population was 7,102,116 during the 2020 census, of whom 3,184,299 lived in the built-up area made up of the 5 urban districts of Zhifu, Laishan, Fushan, Muping, and Penglai. Weihai ( zh, t=, p=Wēihǎi), formerly Weihaiwei ( zh, s=, p=Wēihǎiwèi, l=Mighty Sea Fort, first=t), is a prefecture-level city and major seaport city in the easternmost Shandong province of China. It borders Yantai to the west and the Yellow Sea to the east, and is the closest mainland Chinese city to South Korea (specifically, Chengshan to Yeonpyeongdo). Compared with the 2,804,771 people in the 2010 Chinese census, there has been a total increase of 101,777 people over the past decade, an increase of 3.63%, with an average annual growth rate of 0.36%. China Railway High-speed (CRH) is a high-speed rail service operated by China Railway in addition to China Railway's older Classic Rail services. The introduction of CRH series was a major part of the sixth national railway speedup, implemented on April 18, 2007. The Port of Weihai is a seaport on the Yellow Sea in the vicinity of Weihai, Shandong, People's Republic of China. Qingdao–Rongcheng Intercity Railway
Qingdao–Rongcheng intercity railway is a high-speed railway located in China's, Shandong Province. It travels along the Shandong Peninsula connecting to Qingdao and Rongcheng.
