Mark Tansey
Mark Tansey (born 1949) is an American painter. Life Tansey had an early introduction to art. These early childhood experiences had a profound effect on Tansey's painting style from the inception of his career as an artist. Many of Tansey's paintings are monochromatic and seem old-fashioned. His method involves laying down a layer of monochrome pigment on canvas that can be altered easily only before it dries. This leaves Tansey only about a six-hour window in which to complete his alterations. As such, he works in a style similar to fresco painters, painting in segments that he can finish in this short time frame. Tansey's choice of color and tone lends a specific feeling to each painting. Tansey lives in a two-story studio in downtown New York City and works there from late afternoon throughout the night almost every day. Tansey is a rural town and locality in the Gympie Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Tansey had a population of 144 people. Geography The north and centre of the locality is within Grongah National Park, which extends into neighbouring localities Malarga, Gigoomgan, Calgoa, and Mudlo. Apart from the national park, the predominant land use is cattle grazing. The Burnett Highway passes through the south-west of the locality from Boonara in the south to Booubyjan in the west. The town is located on the highway at its intersection with the Kilkivan Tansey Road, which provides a connection to Kilkivan. Tansey Coetzee (born 8 October 1984) is a South African beauty pageant titleholder who won Miss South Africa 2007, and later represented South Africa in Miss Universe 2008 in Nha Trang, Vietnam, where she placed among the top 15 semifinalists. Elizabeth Matilda Tansey (known as Tilli) is an Emerita Professor of the history of medicine and former neurochemist, best known for her role in the Wellcome Trust's witness seminars. She previously worked at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). Education Tansley was educated at the University of Sheffield where she was awarded a PhD in 1978 for histochemical studies of the brain in cephalopods. After switching fields from neuroscience to the history of science, she was awarded a second PhD in the history of science for her research on the early career of the nobel laureate Henry Hallett Dale. Sarah Victoria M Tansey (born 1971 Wimbledon, London) is a British actress. She had a role in ''Heartbeat'' as pharmacist Jenny Merton (née Latimer) who was brought in to help Dr Summerbee (Clare Calbraith) in the Aidensfield surgery. Paul Anthony Joseph Tansey (17 August 1949 – 21 September 2008) was an Irish journalist and economics editor for ''The Irish Times''. Tansey was a former deputy editor of the ''Sunday Tribune'' and assistant editor of ''The Irish Times'' before becoming the paper's economics editor. He was educated at Blackrock College, Trinity College, Dublin (TCD), where he edited ''Trinity News'' in 1970, and the London School of Economics (LSE). He earned an MBA from Trinity College in 1987. Tansey collapsed on 21 September 2008, while playing tennis at the home of his friend, Senator Shane Ross, in Enniskerry. He was taken to hospital, but was pronounced dead. He was 59. Luraine Tansey (née Collins) (January 29, 1918 – June 18, 2014) was an American slide librarian who created the first Universal Slide Classification System in 1969 with Wendell Simons. Tansey worked to develop a "universal" slide classification scheme that would serve the needs of both catalogers and patrons. Co-authored by Wendell Simons, it was published in 1969 under the title, ''A slide classification system for the organization and automatic indexing of interdisciplinary collections of slides and pictures''. Created mostly during her tenure at the University of California, Santa Cruz in the late 1960s-early 1970s, this system is still in use at UCSC and other institutions and is known as the ''Tansey'' or ''Santa Cruz'' system.
