Tania Gooley-Humphry
Tania Gooley-Humphry (born 16 August 1973 in Adelaide, South Australia) is former professional beach volleyball and indoor volleyball player. Gooley-Humphry began her indoor volleyball career at the University of New Mexico in 1991. Prior to teaming up with Manser in August 1999, Gooley-Humphry had played alongside Nicole Sanderson from mid 1998. She began her international competitive beach volleyball career alongside Sarah Straton in 1996. Beach Volleyball
Beach volleyball is a team sport played by two teams of two or more players on a sand court divided by a net. Similar to indoor volleyball, the objective of the game is to send the ball over the net and to ground it on the opponent's side of the court. Each team also works in unison to prevent the opposing team from grounding the ball on their side of the court. Teams are allowed up to three touches to return the ball across the net, and individual players may not touch the ball twice consecutively except after a touch off an attempted block. Making a block touch leaves only two more touches before the ball must be hit over. The ball is put in play with a serve—a hit by the server from behind the rear court boundary over the net to the opponents. The receiving team typically uses their three touches to pass the ball, set it up for an attack, and then attack the ball by sending it back over the net. Nicole Sanderson
Nicole Therese Sanderson (born 1 April 1976 in Perth, Western Australia) is an Australian beach volleyball player. Sanderson started her career in indoor volleyball where played for Pepperdine University, in the United States. In 1998 she competed for the first time in FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour where she took part until the 2006 season. Her best World Tour result was a second place in Osaka, Japan, alongside Natalie Cook in 2004. That year they have been selected to represent Australia at the 2004 Summer Olympics, in Athens. Cook had won the gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics (with Kerri Pottharst) and they won a bronze medal at the 2003 Beach Volleyball World Championships in Rio de Janeiro. Sarah Straton
Sarah Straton (born October 6, 1970, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States of America) is a former professional beach volleyball player who represented Australia at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. She is married to Greg Noyes, has a son and a daughter and lives in Redondo Beach, California. Straton graduated from the University of Western Australia in 1992 with a degree in human movement and exercise science. Career She represented Australia on the FIVB tour from 1995 to 2003. Pauline Manser
Pauline Manser (born 2 February 1969 in Mount Gambier, South Australia) is an Australian volleyball coach and former professional beach volleyball and indoor volleyball player. Career Playing indoor volleyball Manser represented Australia 104 times between 1987 and 1996. She was one of the inaugural inductees to the Australian Volleyball Hall of Fame in 2012 in recognition of her indoor volleyball career. Manser competed in the women's tournament of the 2000 Summer Olympics alongside Tania Gooley. They finished fifth. A beach is a landform alongside a body of water which consists of loose particles. The particles composing a beach are typically made from rock, such as sand, gravel, shingle, pebbles, etc., or biological sources, such as mollusc shells or coralline algae. Sediments settle in different densities and structures, depending on the local wave action and weather, creating different textures, colors and gradients or layers of material. Though some beaches form on inland freshwater locations such as lakes and rivers, most beaches are in coastal areas where wave or current action deposits and reworks sediments. Erosion and changing of beach geologies happens through natural processes, like wave action and extreme weather events.
