Pauline Manser
Pauline Manser (born 2 February 1969 in Mount Gambier, South Australia) is an Australian volleyball coach and former professional beach volleyball and indoor volleyball player. Career Playing indoor volleyball Manser represented Australia 104 times between 1987 and 1996. She was one of the inaugural inductees to the Australian Volleyball Hall of Fame in 2012 in recognition of her indoor volleyball career. Manser competed in the women's tournament of the 2000 Summer Olympics alongside Tania Gooley. They finished fifth. Prior to teaming up with Gooley in August 1999, Manser had played alongside Kerri Pottharst from March 1998. She began her international competitive career alongside Liane Fenwick in 1997. Mount Gambier is the second most populated city in South Australia, with an estimated urban population of 33,233 . The city is located on the slopes of Mount Gambier, a volcano in the south east of the state, about south-east of the capital Adelaide and just from the Victorian border. Beach Volleyball
Beach volleyball is a team sport played by two teams of two or more players on a sand court divided by a net. Similar to indoor volleyball, the objective of the game is to send the ball over the net and to ground it on the opponent's side of the court. Each team also works in unison to prevent the opposing team from grounding the ball on their side of the court. Teams are allowed up to three touches to return the ball across the net, and individual players may not touch the ball twice consecutively except after a touch off an attempted block. Making a block touch leaves only two more touches before the ball must be hit over. The ball is put in play with a serve—a hit by the server from behind the rear court boundary over the net to the opponents. The receiving team typically uses their three touches to pass the ball, set it up for an attack, and then attack the ball by sending it back over the net. Tania Gooley-Humphry (born 16 August 1973 in Adelaide, South Australia) is former professional beach volleyball and indoor volleyball player. Gooley-Humphry began her indoor volleyball career at the University of New Mexico in 1991. Prior to teaming up with Manser in August 1999, Gooley-Humphry had played alongside Nicole Sanderson from mid 1998. She began her international competitive beach volleyball career alongside Sarah Straton in 1996. Kerri Ann Pottharst OAM (born 25 June 1965) is an Australian former professional beach volleyball player and Olympic gold medallist. Pottharst was born in Adelaide, South Australia, and currently resides in Sydney. In addition to her previous volleyball commitments, Pottharst is an accomplished speaker, MC and presenter. A beach is a landform alongside a body of water which consists of loose particles. The particles composing a beach are typically made from rock, such as sand, gravel, shingle, pebbles, etc., or biological sources, such as mollusc shells or coralline algae. Sediments settle in different densities and structures, depending on the local wave action and weather, creating different textures, colors and gradients or layers of material. Though some beaches form on inland freshwater locations such as lakes and rivers, most beaches are in coastal areas where wave or current action deposits and reworks sediments.
