Tandi Indergaard
Tandi Jane Indergaard (née Gerrard) (born 25 February 1978 in Johannesburg, South Africa) is a South-African born English diver, who specialized in individual and synchronized springboard events. Since 2001, Indergaard holds a dual citizenship with South Africa and Great Britain in order to compete internationally for diving. She is a three-time British diving champion and a bronze medalist for the synchronised springboard at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia. Diving career Indergaard, a native of Johannesburg, South Africa, started her sporting career as a gymnast at the very young age until she took up diving in 1992. She achieved her early success by winning the gold medal for diving as a demonstration sport at the 1995 All-Africa Games in Harare, Zimbabwe, and represented South Africa at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where she met British-born Adrian Hinchliffe, who later served as her personal coach. John Charles Centre For Sport
The John Charles Centre for Sport is a sports facility in South Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It consists of the South Leeds Stadium, Aquatics Centre, Indoor Athletics Centre and Tennis Centre. It was previously named the South Leeds Stadium (although the actual stadium is still known by this name) and was renamed to honour John Charles (1931–2004), the former Leeds United, Juventus and Wales footballer. Women's synchronized 3 metre springboard competition at the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics was held on 10 August at the Beijing National Aquatics Center. As in all other synchronized diving competitions at the Olympics, a single round of competition was held. Eight pairs of divers competed. Each pair performed five dives, with both divers from the pair jumping at the same time. Nine judges evaluated each dive, with two each judging the performance of the two divers (the execution judges) and five judges evaluating the synchronization of the pair (the synchronization judges). For each dive, four of the nine scores are ignored—the highest and lowest execution scores, and the highest and lowest synchronization scores. The remaining five scores are summed, multiplied by the dive's degree of difficulty, and then multiplied by 0.6 to get the final score for the dive.
