Tampines Mall
Tampines Mall () is a suburban shopping mall located at Tampines Central 5 in Tampines, Singapore, next to Century Square as well as Tampines 1. It was completed in 1995. History Completed in November 1995, Tampines Mall was developed by DBS Land (the predecessor of Capitaland) and NTUC Fairprice Co-Operative. It was officially opened by then Minister for Communications Mr Mah Bow Tan in February 1996. Like suburban malls completed at that time, it had various anchor tenants, such as an Isetan department store, a Golden Village cineplex, a Kopitam food court, an NTUC Fairprice supermarket, a Popular bookstore, Toys 'R' Us and more than 100 specialty shops. Tampines
Tampines () is the regional centre of the East Region of Singapore. With a population of 265,340 living across its five subzones, it is the second-most populous planning area in Singapore, according to the DOS Population Trends 2022. It is home to approximately 5% of Singapore's population. Tampines is bordered to the west by Bedok and Paya Lebar, to the north by Pasir Ris, to the east by Changi, and to the south by the Straits of Singapore. A shopping mall (or simply mall) is a North American term for a large indoor shopping center, usually anchored by department stores. White Sands Shopping Mall (Chinese: 白沙购物中心), also known as White Sands, is a 5-storey shopping mall in Pasir Ris, Singapore. It is located near Pasir Ris MRT station and Pasir Ris Bus Interchange and features a basement with retail outlets and two additional floors of basement carparks. The mall is a gathering spot for conscripted soldiers due to the mall's close proximity to Pasir Ris Bus Interchange, the location at which they are dropped off from the army camp on Pulau Tekong. Eastpoint Mall () is a shopping mall located in Simei, Singapore beside Simei MRT station. It was formerly known for its wide selection of educational and enrichment centres and its pet shop (The Pet Safari), which was once the largest in Asia. The mall is owned by NTUC Income, and is managed by Frasers Property. History Eastpoint Mall was developed by Far East Organisation and was completed in November 1996, followed by an official opening in January 1997 by then Minister for National Development Mr Lim Hng Kiang. Mah Bow Tan
Mah Bow Tan ( zh, s=马宝山, p=Mǎ Bǎoshān; born 12 September 1948) is a Singaporean former politician who served as Leader of the House between 2007 and 2011, Minister for National Development between 1999 and 2011, Minister for the Environment between 1993 and 1995, and Minister for Communications between 1991 and 1999. A former member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), he was the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Tampines East ward of Tampines GRC between 1988 and 2015. Tampines 1 is a shopping mall located in the east of Singapore next to the Tampines MRT station. The mall opened on 1 April 2009. Overview Construction work on the mall began in March 2007 after the DBS Tampines Centre was demolished. It replaced the former DBS Tampines Centre and Pavilion Cineplex. The mall obtained TOP on 31 March 2009 and was opened to public on the following day. The mall, spread over five storeys and one basement, is the first suburban mall in Singapore with a dedicated swimming pool. The shopping mall is located at the Tampines Regional Centre, where Tampines MRT station and Tampines Bus Interchange are situated very close to the mall. It is also located next to Century Square Shopping Centre as well as Tampines Mall. Century Square (Chinese: 世纪广场) is a 6-storey shopping mall in Tampines, Singapore. It is located near Tampines MRT station and next to Tampines Mall. Opened in 1995, Century Square underwent expansion in 2005 and renovations in 2018. History Developed by First Capital Corporation Ltd (now GuocoLand), Century Square was opened in July 1995 with 63 tenants, officially opening on 25 November 1995 by then-Minister for Home Affairs Wong Kan Seng. It was one of the first shopping malls in Tampines, along with Tampines Mall which opened in December that year. Tampines MRT Station
Tampines MRT station is a Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) interchange station on the East West (EWL) and Downtown (DTL) lines in Tampines, Singapore. Situated at the heart of the Tampines town centre next to Tampines Avenue 4, Tampines Central 4 and Tampines Central 5, it is in close proximity to the Tampines and Tampines Concourse bus interchanges. The station also serves the surrounding retail developments of Tampines Mall, Tampines One and Century Square. The EWL station opened on 16 December 1989 as part of the MRT eastern line extension to Pasir Ris station via this station. On 20 August 2010, it was announced that the station would interchange with the DTL by 2017.
