Commercial Taxes Department disclosed 1.09 crore in entertainment tax revenue for the year. Tamil Cinema
Tamil cinema, also known as Kollywood is a part of Indian Cinema; primarily engaged in production of motion pictures in the Tamil language. Based out of the Kodambakkam neighbourhood in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, it is popularly called ''Kollywood'' - a portmanteau of the words Kodambakkam and Hollywood. The first Tamil silent film, ''Keechaka Vadham'', was directed by R. Nataraja Mudaliar in 1918. The first Tamil talking feature film, ''Kalidas'', a multilingual directed by H M Reddy was released on 31 October 1931, less than seven months after India's first talking motion picture ''Alam Ara''. Pandari Bai
Pandari Bai (1930 – 29 January 2003) was an Indian actress who worked in South Indian cinema, mostly in Kannada cinema during the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. She is considered Kannada cinema's first successful heroine. She has acted as both heroine and mother to stalwarts such as Rajkumar, M. G. Ramachandran, Sivaji Ganesan. She was the heroine in Rajkumar's debut movie ''Bedara Kannappa'' and also Sivaji's debut movie '' Parasakthi''. She has acted in over 1,000 films in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Bai was honoured by Kalaimamani from the Tamil Nadu government. Career Pandaribai began her career in acting in plays based on mythological stories before making her film debut in 1943 with the Kannada language film, ''Vani''. Krishnan–Panju
R. Krishnan (1909–1997) and S. Panju (1915–1984), collectively referred to as Krishnan–Panju, were Indian film directors. The duo directed more than 50 films in South Indian languages and in Hindi. Early life R. Krishnan was born on 18 July 1909 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Previously, he was in charge of the laboratory in Pakshiraja Studios (then known as Kandhan studio) in Coimbatore. S. Panju was born on 24 January 1915 as Panchapakesan in Umayalpuram near Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu. Previously, he worked as an assistant editor under P. K. Raja Sandow and as assistant director under Ellis R. Dungan. He was also a film editor who edited films under the name Punjabi or Panjabi. Kula Deivam (1956 Film)
''Kula Deivam'' () is a 1956 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Krishnan–Panju and written by Murasoli Maran. It is a remake of the 1954 Bengali film ''Banga Kora''. The film stars S. V. Sahasranamam and Pandari Bai, while Rajagopal, S. S. Rajendran, Chandrababu, S. A. Ashokan and Vijayakumari play supporting roles. The film's soundtrack and background score were composed by R. Sudarsanam. Maruthi Rao and Panju (under the alias S. Panjabi) handled cinematography and editing respectively. Kudumba Vilakku
''Kudumba Vilakku'' () is a 1956 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by F. Nagoor. The film stars P. V. Narasimha Bharathi and Jamuna. Plot Radha is the wife of Kanagasabai, a Zamindar. The couple have no children. Kanagasabai brings in another woman, Pushpa, as his second wife with Radha's consent. In the meantime, Radha gets pregnant. Pushpa and her uncle Appasami try to abort the baby, but Radha safely delivers a boy. While Radha is in a delirious state, Pushpa and Appasami hand over the baby to a servant, Gopal and order him to kill it. But Gopal takes it to the next village and dumps the baby in a garbage bin. Kaathaan comes to clear the bin and finds the baby. Raghuveer (actor)
Raghuveer was an Indian actor and producer in the Kannada film industry. Film career Raghuveer came to the Kannada film industry as a hero through ''Ajay Vijay'' back in 1991. Though he made his debut as a hero alongside Murali (Tamil actor), Murali in ''Ajay Vijay'', it was S. Narayan's ''Chaitrada Premanjali'' (1992), which catapulted him to success. He then went on to act in ''Shrungara Kavya'' (1993). However his subsquent films ''Kaaveri Theeradalli'' (1994), ''Naviloora Naidile'' (1995), and ''Thungabhadra'' (1995) were all box office failures and the film ''Kaadina Kaggathalu'' was removed from theaters the day that it was released. Jamuna (born 30 August 1936) is an Indian actress, director and politician who appeared mainly in Telugu films. She made her acting debut at the age of 16 in Dr. Garikapati Rajarao's ''Puttillu'' (1953), and received her breakthrough with L. V. Prasad ''Missamma'' (1955).
