Tami Sawyer
Tami Sawyer (born April 27, 1982) is an American politician and civil rights activist. She was elected in August 2018 as Shelby County Commissioner for District 7 and resides in Memphis, Tennessee. She is a member of the Democratic Party. She serves as chair of the Education and Legislative committees. She is chair of the Shelby County Commission Black Caucus. Sawyer has provided commentary on social justice and public policy for many outlets including Al Jazeera, CNN, Commercial Appeal, Essence, Forbes, HuffPost, MLK50, MSNBC, NPR, Roland Martin, and Time. In 2020, ''We Can't Wait'', a documentary chronicling her 2019 mayoral campaign, was named Best Hometowner Feature at the Indie Memphis Film Festival. Shelby County is the westernmost county in the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2020 United States Census, 2020 census, the population was 929,744. It is the largest of the state's List of counties in Tennessee, 95 counties, both in terms of population and geographic area. The Links
The Links is an American invitation-only social and service organization of prominent Black women in the United States. Founded in 1946, it is the largest nationwide organization of Black women in the USA. Members include multiple prominent women, including Kamala Harris, Marian Wright Edelman, and the late Betty Shabazz. As of 2021, there were 16,000 members in nearly 300 chapters. The organization was founded in Philadelphia, but since 2022, it is headquartered in Washington, D.C. The six Naval Sea Systems Command Program Executive Offices (PEOs) are responsible for the development and acquisition of naval platforms and weapons systems. Their mission is to develop, acquire, field and sustain affordable and integrated state of the art equipment for the Navy and Marine Corps. The Naval Sea Systems Command is organizationally aligned to the Chief of Naval Operations. Rhetoric () is the art of persuasion, which along with grammar and logic (or dialectic), is one of the three ancient arts of discourse.
