Heavy Metal Music
Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. With roots in blues rock, psychedelic rock and acid rock, heavy metal bands developed a thick, monumental sound characterized by distortion (music), distorted guitars, extended guitar solos, emphatic Beat (music), beats and loudness. In 1968, three of the genre's most famous pioneers – Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple – were founded. Though they came to attract wide audiences, they were often derided by critics. Several American bands modified heavy metal into more accessible forms during the 1970s: the raw, sleazy sound and shock rock of Alice Cooper and Kiss (band), Kiss; the blues-rooted rock of Aerosmith; and the flashy guitar leads and party rock of Van Halen. During the mid-1970s, Judas Priest helped spur the genre's evolution by discarding much of its blues influence,Walser (1993), p. 6 while Motörhea ...

Behemoth (band)
Behemoth is a Polish extreme metal band from Gdańsk, formed in 1991. They are considered to have played an important role in establishing the Polish extreme metal underground. Until the late 1990s, the band played a traditional black metal style with heathen lyrical content, but soon changed to that of occult and thelemic themes written by their lead vocalist Nergal and Krzysztof Azarewicz. With the 1999 release of '' Satanica'', the band demonstrated their presence in the death metal scene, while retaining their own signature style characterized by the drum work of Inferno and multi-layered vocals. Despite Behemoth having been labeled as death metal or thrash metal-influenced, Nergal has mentioned that he does not like the band to be labeled. History Early career and first five albums (1991–2000) Behemoth was formed in 1991 as a trio, with Nergal on lead guitar and vocals, Baal on drums, and Desecrator on rhythm guitar. They started with the demos ''Endless Damnation'', a ...

In 1998, the festival moved to Norje, although the name Karlshamn Rock Festival was kept. In 1999 the name was changed to the Sweden Rock Festival. When the festival began in 1992, it featured nine relatively unknown bands and it only lasted one day. The next year the festival was expanded to two days and more bands were added to the line-up. Shehili
''Shehili'' is the fifth studio album by Tunisian progressive metal band Myrath, released on 3 March 2019. The group began to work on it in early 2017 and originally planned to release it later that year. Myrath was already thinking of the album as they prepared its predecessor, ''Legacy''. According to them, songs from both efforts are connected, as are each of their main singles ("Believer" and "Dance", respectively). Background, songwriting and production After they finished touring for ''Legacy'' in 2017, members started to record ideas on their phones and later gathered for two weeks in a hotel room in Paris to discuss their compositions. After two weeks, producer Kevin Codfert finished orchestrations, arrangements and mixing and the final result was presented to Myrath's boss at earMUSIC, who praised everything but the drums. The latter were re-recorded in a studio in Hamburg with Eike Freese as a producer. In an interview for Japanese news portal Barks, Codfert said the ...

Ayreon
Ayreon is a musical project by Dutch songwriter, singer, musician and record producer Arjen Anthony Lucassen. Ayreon's music is described as progressive rock, progressive metal and power metal sometimes combined with genres such as folk, electronica, experimental and classical music. The majority of Ayreon's albums are dubbed "rock operas" (or "metal operas") because the albums contain complex storylines featuring a host of characters, usually with each one being represented by a unique vocalist. Each Ayreon album tells a different story, but all, with the exceptions of ''Actual Fantasy'', '' The Theory of Everything'', and ''Transitus'', take place in the same fictional, science fiction universe; additionally, Lucassen's solo album ''Lost in the New Real'' is also set in the Ayreon universe. Ayreon's music is characterized by the use of traditional instruments in rock music (guitars, bass guitar, drums, analogue synthesizers, electric organs) mixed with instruments more native ...

The Source (Ayreon Album)
''The Source'' is the ninth studio album from Ayreon, a progressive metal/rock opera project by Dutch musician Arjen Anthony Lucassen, released on 28 April 2017. It is Lucassen's first album under his new label, Mascot Label Group. As with every Ayreon album, it is a concept album with each character being portrayed by one singer. Unlike the previous album '' The Theory of Everything'', it marks a return to science fiction and the Ayreon storyline; it acts, in particular, as a prequel to ''01011001'', making it the first album in the storyline's chronology. In ''The Source'', the Alphans, ancestors of humanity, try to prevent the extinction of their race from machines who took control of the entire planet Alpha, by sending a select few Alphans into space so they can attempt to start anew on a distant world. In the typical style of the project, the album features several guest singers to portray the characters across the album; although Lucassen usually prefers to work only once wi ...

Legacy (Myrath Album)
''Legacy'' is the fourth studio album by Tunisian progressive metal band Myrath, released on 19 February 2016. The name of the album is also the name of the band when translated to English. As the band prepared it, they were already thinking of its successor ''Shehili''. According to them, songs from both efforts are connected. It was originally planned for a 12 February release. The song "Believer" was described as "an anthem for those who doubt, who are scared, who want to give up, who suffer." Following a crowdfunding campaign, the band spent € 45,000 to hire two ''Game of Thrones'' producers for the track's video. They initially wanted to create something that strayed from what they called Tunisian "clichés", but after receiving no replies from the local government with regards to authorization to shoot images in certain locations, they changed their concept. Reception ''Metal Hammer''s Dave Ling praised the blend of metal and oriental traditional elements, saying the ad ...
