Takavar
This is a list of special forces units in Iranian Armed Forces and police. The name can refer to members of regular units who have successfully completed Commando or Ranger training courses and marines trained as Frogman, or the hand-selected and highly trained members serving in special forces. Terminology ''Niruye vizheh'' (نیروی ویژه), plural ''niruhaye vizheh'' (نیروهای ویژه) is the Persian term for " special force". This term is used in the official name for the 65th Airborne Special Forces Brigade. ''Takavar'' (تکاور), plural ''Takavaran'' (تکاوران), literally meaning "attack-trooper", is the equivalent of "commando". The word "Commando" (کماندو) is also used in Persian. 110th Salman Farsi Special Operations Brigade
The 110th Salman Farsi Special Operations Brigade () is an SOF Takavar unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Ground Forces based in the city of Zahedan, in the province of Sistan and Baluchistan. The brigade is currently commanded by Brigadier General Hossein Almasi () and part of the "Qods sector headquarters" in southeastern Iran. History The brigade originated in 1986 as a battalion of the 41st Tharallah Division, taking part in the Iran-Iraq war. After the war, it became its own brigade in 2011, and, in 2015, following necessary special training, the brigade was declared a special operations Takavar brigade. Since then, it has taken part in combating the insurgency in Sistan and Baluchistan province from its base in the city of Zahedan, as well as partaking in the Iranian involvement in the Syrian civil war. Saberin Unit
The Saberin Takavar Brigade ( fa, گردان تکاور صابرين; meaning ''Steadfasts Commando Battalions'') also known as Saberin Unit is an elite Takavar unit in the Ground Forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. It is considered one of the best Takavar units in the Iranian Armed Forces, with decades of military and combat experience both at home and specially in overseas operations in neighbouring countries. It is one of the most exclusive units in the IRGC, having at least 6000 members, all of them volunteers and handpicked from the best and most capable units in the IRGC Ground, Air and Sea forces. Together with the Quds Force operatives and the Sepah Navy Special Force marines, they are considered la crème de la crème of the IRGC, its top tier units and the best soldiers within the Corps. 65th Airborne Special Forces Brigade ( fa, تیپ ۶۵ نیروهای ویژه هوابرد), or the ''NOHED'' Brigade (), is an airborne, special forces unit of the Iranian Army established in 1959. The unit's first operation was during the Dhofar Rebellion in Oman. After the 1979 Revolution in Iran, it was a participant in the post-Revolution clashes. As part of the 23rd Commando Division, the unit was extensively used in various operations of the Iran–Iraq War of the 1980s. Recently, some members have been active in the Syrian Civil War. Sepah Navy Special Force
Special Unit of NEDSA ( fa, یگان ویژه ندسا), also known as Sepah Navy Special Force (S.N.S.F.) ( fa, نیروی ویژه دریایی سپاه), is a Takavar unit in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy stationed in the Greater Farur Island of Persian Gulf. Mission set The unit has marines, frogmen and snipers specializing in heliborne, amphibious warfare and naval boarding.
