Japanese Language
is spoken natively by about 128 million people, primarily by Japanese people and primarily in Japan, the only country where it is the national language. Sunflower
The common sunflower (''Helianthus annuus'') is a large annual forb of the genus ''Helianthus'' grown as a crop for its edible oily seeds. Apart from cooking oil production, it is also used as livestock forage (as a meal or a silage plant), as bird food, in some industrial applications, and as an ornamental in domestic gardens. Wild ''H. annuus'' is a widely branched annual plant with many flower heads. The domestic sunflower, however, often possesses only a single large inflorescence (flower head) atop an unbranched stem. GO!GO!7188 (Go Go Nana Ichi Hachi Hachi), also known simply as Gogo, was a Japanese rock band with influences spanning from surf rock to punk rock to enka. History In June 1998, Yumi Nakashima (nicknamed Yuu) and Akiko Hamada (nicknamed Akko), both alumnae of the same year at Shoyo High School in Kagoshima of Kyūshū, formed a band composed of girls, which was the forerunner of GO!GO!7188. When the band broke up in 1999, Yu and Akko formed GO!GO!7188 to participate in the ''Teen's Music Festival'', sponsored by Yamaha. Taiyo (album)
is the 10th studio album by Japanese singer/songwriter Chisato Moritaka, released on July 15, 1996 by One Up Music. The album features the hit singles " Yasumi no Gogo", " So Blue", and " La La Sunshine", as well as two commercial jingles for Suntory liquor products. "Gin Gin Gin" served as the basis for Moritaka's 1995 Christmas single "Jin Jin Jingle Bell". ''Taiyo'' is also the second album in Moritaka's catalog to include a cover version of a Beatles song. A limited edition release included a lenticular cover featuring Moritaka changing her facial expressions and a 10-page photo book. The album reached No. 3 on Oricon's albums chart and sold over 386,000 copies. It was also Moritaka's last album to be certified Platinum by the RIAJ. Japanese Aircraft Carrier Taiyō
The Japanese aircraft carrier was the lead ship of her class of three escort carriers. She was originally built as , the last of three of passenger-cargo liners built in Japan during the late 1930s for NYK Line. The ship was requisitioned by the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) in early 1941 and was converted into an escort carrier. ''Taiyō'' was initially used to transport aircraft to distant air bases and for training, but was later used to escort convoys of merchant ships between Japan and Singapore. The ship was torpedoed twice by American submarines with negligible to moderate damage before she was sunk in mid-1944 with heavy loss of life. 1973 Taiyo Department Store Fire
The Taiyo Department Store fire was a fire at the Taiyo Department Store, a department store in Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. The fire started at 1:15 p.m. on November 29, 1973; 103 people died. After the fire, regulations pertaining to the construction of buildings were strengthened, one of which mandated external stairs on highrise buildings. The Taiyo Department Store had a basement floor and nine stories. Some areas were under construction. It was the most popular department store in Kumamoto City at that time. Description The fire started on the platform of steps between the second and third floors, on which goods were placed. The cause of the fire was never determined. The fire sprinkler system did not work because of ongoing construction work. The fire was televised live and it was reported that the smoke, which was in various colors and odors, was poisonous. is a Japanese materials and electronics company, situated in Kyobashi, Chuo, Tokyo, that helped pioneer recordable CD technology (CD-R) along with Sony and Philips in 1988.
