Taichung Mayor's House
The Taichung Mayor's House () is a former residence of Taichung Mayor in North District, Taichung, Taiwan. History The building was originally built in 1929 for Japanese optometrist Miyahara Takeo under the name Miyahara Residence. After the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China, the building became the property of Taichung City Government and housed the official residence of Taichung Mayor. In 2002, the residence was declared a historical building. In 2004, the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the city government converted into a public arts and cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Taichung (, Wade–Giles: ''Tʻai²-chung¹'', pinyin: ''Táizhōng''), officially Taichung City, is a special municipality located in central Taiwan. Retrocession Day is the name given to the annual observance and a former public holiday in Taiwan to commemorate the end of Japanese rule of Taiwan and Penghu, and the claimed retrocession ("return") of Taiwan to the Republic of China on 25 October 1945. The Taichung City Government () is the municipal government of Taichung, Taiwan. History Taichū City Government was established by the Governor-General of Taiwan and the Japanese colonial authorities on 1 October 1920. Following the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China, Taichung had been reconstituted as a provincial city government on 25 October 1945. Taichung Railway Station
Taichung station () is a railway station in Taichung, Taiwan served by Taiwan Railways Administration. It is served by all TRA services along the route. History The station was originally constructed in 1905 in a wooden building architectural style and started its operation in 1908. In 1917, it was rebuilt as a red brick structure with Renaissance architectural style. On 16 October 2016, the elevated station was inaugurated in which the ground-level station was shut down. The first train that arrived at the elevated station was at 06:28.
