Tai Wan Road () is a road in Tai Wan, Kowloon, Hong Kong. It starts from Ma Tau Wai Road to Dyer Avenue. Name and history Since 2 June 1922, the official Chinese name was 大灣道, but it was mistaken as 大環道 on road signs and people got used to the wrong name even since. On 23 December 2005, the Hong Kong Government announced that the road will be split into two different roads and the new names will be Tai Wan Road () and Tai Wan Road East (). The change also reflects the splitting of the new road by Man Yue Street. Tai Wan, Hung Hom
Tai Wan () was a bay on the eastern Hung Hom, Kowloon Peninsula in Hong Kong. The southern end of the bay joined with the Hong Kong and Whampoa Dock. The name also refers to an area, which neighbours To Kwa Wan and the Whampoa Garden in Hung Hom. Tai Wan Shan () was a hill on the coast, that was the location of the "Easy Battery" later becoming a power station belonging to China Light and Power (now CLP Power). Name It is a common error that the character 灣 is mistakenly written with its homonym 環 in Hong Kong. This has caused major confusion amongst local people, including government officials. Ma Tau Wai Road () is a main road in Kowloon City District, Kowloon, Hong Kong. History Named after Ma Tau Wai, Ma Tau Wai Road The northern section was named after Ma Tau Chung as Ma Tau Chung Road. There is a new Kowloon City Road that connects to Kai Tak Tunnel (formerly known as Airport Tunnel). Features A Pak Tai Temple is located along Ma Tau Wai Road. Dyer Avenue is a short, north-south thoroughfare in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City, located between Ninth Avenue and Tenth Avenue. It is primarily used by traffic exiting the Lincoln Tunnel. Dyer Avenue runs between 30th Street and 42nd Street but functions as three distinct sections due to its connections with the south and center tubes of the Lincoln Tunnel. The southernmost section, between 30th and 31st Streets, leads to and from the Lincoln Tunnel Expressway.
