Tai Lei
Tai Lei, also referred to as Tai Lei Chau, is a small island located off the island of Peng Chau in Hong Kong. The island is connected to Peng Chau by a bridge. The bridge leading to the island is a popular fishing spot for residents of Peng Chau. Features The island houses an electrical substation operated by China Light and Power. In 2010, renovation work conducted on the CLP facility on Tai Lei met resistance from local environmental organisations. Part of the island is occupied by a refuse-sorting facility which handles much of the garbage generated by Peng Chau. The facility is connected to its own pier which allows material to be removed and taken to landfills by ship. Transportation The island is connected to Peng Chau by the Peng Lei Road bridge. The southern end of the island has a public pier which is operated and maintained by the Civil Engineering and Development Department of the government. District Councils Of Hong Kong
The district councils, formerly district boards until 1999, are the local councils for the 18 districts of Hong Kong. History Before establishment An early basis for the delivery of local services were the Kaifong associations, set up in 1949. However, by the 1960s, these had ceased to represent local interests, and so, in 1968, the government established the first local administrative structure with the city district offices, which were intended to enable it to mobilise support for its policies and programmes, such as in health and crime-reduction campaigns. Islands District
The Islands District is one of the 18 districts of Hong Kong. It is part of the New Territories. It had a population of 170,900 in 2018. Hong Kong consists of a peninsula and 263 islands. The Islands District consists of some twenty large and small islands which lie to the south and southwest of Hong Kong. Notable areas that are part of the Islands District include Chek Lap Kok, the reclaimed island on which Hong Kong International Airport is located, Tung Chung on northern Lantau near the airport, and Discovery Bay, a large private residential area on eastern Lantau. Peng Chau is a small island located off the north-eastern coast of Lantau Island, Hong Kong. It is known locally for its temples, fishing industry and seafood. Geography Peng Chau has an area of and a perimeter of about . The tallest point of the island is Finger Hill (手指山), which is in height. In 2003, the island underwent land degradation restorative work. Administration Politically, Peng Chau is part of Peng Chau & Hei Ling Chau constituency of the Islands District Council. The executive branch of the government of the island included department of the Islands District Office of the Home Affairs Department. The local police station belongs to the Cheung Chau Division of the Marine Police.
