Tadeusz Faliszewski
Tadeusz Faliszewski (born 1898 in Żywiec, died 1961 in Chicago) (also known under his scenic names: Jerzy Nowogródzki, Jerzy Orowski, Jan Pobóg, Jan Saskowski), Polish singer, cabaret actor, director of revues and operettas. Husband of actress Halina Kidawska. Spent his childhood in Lwów (now Lviv, Ukraine). Served in the polish army during the World War I and World War II. Since 1940, he was imprisoned in the Nazi German concentration camp of Gusen. Made his debut as an actor in 1922, played in Cracow, Radom, Kalisz, and Czestochowa. He and Adam Aston, Henryk Wars and Stefan Sas-Jaworski were the ''Chór Warsa''. Performed in Warsaw cabarets like ''Morskie Oko'' and ''Nowy Ananas'', later founded his own literary cabaret ''Rajski Ptak''. In a 1937 Polish radio contest for vocalists he came in third after Mieczyslaw Fogg and Stefan Witas. He sang many songs with texts by Andrzej Włast. Żywiec
Żywiec () (german: Saybusch) is a town in southern Poland with 31,194 inhabitants (2019). Between 1975 and 1998, it was located within the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship, but has since become part of the Silesian Voivodeship.It is the capital of Żywiecczyzna which is part of the Goral Lands. Konrad Tom (9 April 1887 – 9 August 1957), born Konrad Runowiecki, a Polish Jewish actor, writer, singer and director, born in Warsaw. Wrote song lyrics in Polish and in Yiddish for stage, film and cabaret, including '' szmonces''. His wife was actress Zula Pogorzelska. Julian Tuwim
Julian Tuwim (13 September 1894 – 27 December 1953), known also under the pseudonym "Oldlen" as a lyricist, was a Polish poet, born in Łódź, then part of the Russian Partition. He was educated in Łódź and in Warsaw where he studied law and philosophy at Warsaw University. After Poland's return to independence in 1918, Tuwim co-founded the Skamander group of experimental poets with Antoni Słonimski and Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz. He was a major figure in Polish literature, admired also for his contribution to children's literature. Emanuel Schlechter (pseudonyms Eman, Olgierd Lech) (Emanuel Szlechter) (9 October 1904 – 1943) was born and died in Lwów. Jerzy Petersburski (1895–1979) was a Jewish Polish pianist and composer of popular music, renowned mostly for his Tangos, some of which (such as ''To ostatnia niedziela'', ''Już nigdy'' and ''Tango Milonga'') were milestones in popularization of the musical genre in Poland and are still widely known today, more than half a century after their creation. Early life Jerzy Petersburski was born on 20 April 1895 into the well-known Warsaw family of Jewish musicians, Melodysta (on his mother's side). He graduated from the Warsaw Conservatory, where his professor was Antoni Sygietyński. Eugeniusz Bodo
Eugeniusz Bodo (born Bohdan Eugène Junod; 28 December 1899 7 October 1943) was a film director, producer, and one of the most popular Polish actors and comedians of the interwar period. Andrzej Włast (aka Gustaw Baumritter) (17 March 1885 – 1942 or 1943) was a Polish Jewish songwriter. He wrote the lyrics for the 1929 hit song "Tango Milonga" / "Oh, Donna Clara". Stefan Witas (born 21 June 1908 in Warsaw, died 18 August 2006 in Warsaw), also known as Stefan Nowita, was a Polish actor and singer. In 1933, he began performing at places of entertainment in Warsaw, then in theatrical stages in many Polish cities. In 1937 he won the Polish Radio competition for the most popular singer. He worked in famous nightclubs like ''Adria, Gastronomia'' and ''Alhambra''. During the war, he performed in cafés in Warsaw, Lviv, Kraków and Lublin. After the war he was associated with the :pl:Teatr Syrena and later with the Warsaw Operetta. He performed on the radio show "Tea." His repertoire included opera and operetta arias, songs, carols, songs, cabaret songs, and dances.
