Konrad Tom (9 April 1887 – 9 August 1957), born Konrad Runowiecki, a Polish Jewish actor, writer, singer and director, born in Warsaw. Wrote song lyrics in Polish and in Yiddish for stage, film and cabaret, including '' szmonces''. His wife was actress Zula Pogorzelska. "Yiddish talkies were not only comparable to those of the Polish mainstream but were produced by the same people. Henryk Wars
Henryk Wars (born Henryk Warszawski, after 1947 Henry Vars; 29 December 1902 – 1 September 1977) was a Polish composer. He composed scores for 50 films during the interwar period in Poland and 60 more in the United States. Harry Waldau
Harry Waldau (born Valentin Pinner) (1876–1943), born in Liegnitz, Germany, was murdered in the Auschwitz concentration camp. He was a Jewish pianist, composer and lyricist and part of the 1920s cabaret scene in Berlin, writing songs like ''Savannah Tango, Mensch komm mal rüber, Warum kiekste mir denn immer uff die Beene'' and ''Die Tausend-Kronen-Note'' for singer Claire Waldoff. Konrad Tom wrote Polish words for Waldau's ''Madame Loulou'' and Adam Aston performed it. Waldau was deported on 2 March 1943 from Berlin on Transport 32 and murdered in Auschwitz later that month. Eugeniusz Bodo
Eugeniusz Bodo (born Bohdan Eugène Junod; 28 December 1899 7 October 1943) was a film director, producer, and one of the most popular Polish actors and comedians of the interwar period. He starred in some of the most popular Polish film productions of the 1930s, including '' His Excellency, The Shop Assistant'' (Polish: ''Jego ekscelencja subiekt''), ''Czy Lucyna to dziewczyna?'', and ''Pieśniarz Warszawy''. A skilled singer, he became an icon of Polish musical comedy and a "symbol of Polish commercial cinema". Mieczysław Fogg
Mieczysław Fogg (born Mieczysław Fogiel; 30 May 1901, Warsaw3 September 1990, Warsaw) was a Polish singer and artist. His popularity started well before World War II and continued well into the 1980s. He had a characteristic way of staying very serious yet slightly emotional on stage when singing. Fogg had a lyric baritone voice and can be compared to French Tino Rossi in style. Biography Mieczysław Fogiel was born 30 May 1901 in Warsaw, then a province guberniya capital in Russian Empire. He spent his childhood there and, after graduating from a local gymnasium in 1922, he started working as a railway worker. About that time, he also joined the choir of the St. Anne's Church. ''Wielka droga'' is a 1946 Polish film directed by Michał Waszyński. Plot The plot spans from shortly before the outbreak of World War II to its end. In the city of Lwów (PL) in 1939 Adam and Irena fall in Love, but are separated by the outbreak of the war. Both are deported by the Soviets to Siberia, where they briefly meet again when signing up to the newly created Polish army. Again separated from Irena, Adam marches with the army from Siberia through the Middle East and fights on the Italian front line. During the battle of Monte Cassino he gets wounded when participating in the first assault, temporarily losing his eyesight. Ivo Wesby (1902–1961), born Ignacy Singer in Kraków, Poland, was a Polish composer and director. He studied music in Vienna. ''Mamele'' ( yi, מאמאלע pl, Mateczka) is a Yiddish Language Polish musical film made in 1938. Synopsis Set in Łódź, the film revolves around Khavtshi Samet ( Picon), a Cinderella figure, who has taken on maternal responsibility for her family after the death of her mother — hence the title, ''Mamele'', or 'little mother.' Khavtshi is required to shop, cook and clean up after her unappreciative family. Furthermore, she must keep her siblings out of trouble: her younger brother gets mixed up with crooks and her sister Berta (Bullman) has eyes for the gangster Maks Katz (Menashe Oppenheim). Eventually Khavtshi's morale breaks, and she moves in with the handsome musician Schlesinger (Zayenda) across the courtyard.
