Tapas, formerly known as Tapastic and originally known as Comic Panda, is a South Korean webtoon and prose publishing website and app owned by Tapas Media, a Kakao Entertainment company. It was created by entrepreneur Chang Kim in 2012, who is currently Tapas Media's CEO. As of February 2021 the website reports that it hosts English-language works by over 61,000 creators. Most of the works on Tapas are in romance and fantasy genres. Tapas reports that around 63% of creators on its service are women and that the majority of its users are women aged 18–24. Around 80% of its works are comics, while the rest are prose. The site works on a freemium business model; many series have the first few episodes available for free but further episodes must be purchased. Tapas (Sanskrit: तपस्) is a variety of austere spiritual meditation practices in Indian religions. In Jainism, it means asceticism (austerities, body mortification); in Buddhism, it denotes spiritual practices including meditation and self-discipline; and in the different traditions within Hinduism it means a spectrum of practices ranging from asceticism, inner cleansing to self-discipline by meditation practices. Tapa cloth (or simply ''tapa'') is a barkcloth made in the islands of the Pacific Ocean, primarily in Tonga, Samoa and Fiji, but as far afield as Niue, Cook Islands, Futuna, Solomon Islands, Java, New Zealand, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea and Hawaii (where it is called ''kapa''). In French Polynesia it has nearly disappeared, except for some villages in the Marquesas. The Taiwan Action Party Alliance (TAPA; ) was a political party in Taiwan established on 18 August 2019 and dissolved on 19 January 2020. Founding In July 2019, Chen Shui-bian stated on Facebook that he was "pleased to see the birth of a new political party, the ‘One Country on One Side Action Party." This was a literal translation of the party's Chinese name, which derives from the One Country on Each Side concept developed by Chen when he served as President of the Republic of China. Nupe People
The Nupe (traditionally called the ''Nupawa'' by the Hausas and ''Tapa'' by the neighbouring Yoruba) are an ethnic group native to the Middle Belt of Nigeria. They are the dominant ethnic group in Niger State and a minority in Kwara State. The Nupe are also present in Kogi State and The Federal Capital Territory. History The Nupe trace their origin to Tsoede who fled the court of Idah and established a loose confederation of towns along the Niger in the 15th century. The proximity of Nupe to the Yoruba Igbomina people in the south and to the Yoruba Oyo people in the southwest led to cross-fertilization of cultural influences through trade and conflicts over the centuries. Population and demography There are probably about 3.5 million Nupes, principally in Niger State. The Nupe language is also spoken in Kwara, Kogi and Federal Capital Territory.
