TV 2 (Denmark)
TV 2 (''TV to'') is a Danish government-owned broadcast and subscription television station in Denmark based in Odense, Funen. History Since 1949, Danmarks Radio had been the sole provider of television in Denmark. Wanting to end the monopoly, the Danish Parliament voted on 30 May 1986, to create TV2, as a second choice for public service television. Upon its establishment, it had first begun its experimental test transmissions, and then, two years later, it had therefore commenced its official broadcast on 1 October 1988, with its first program being ''Danish Symphony'' which is broadcast at 17:00, followed by the news at 19:30. Subscription and overseas availability From 1 November 2009, all Danish television broadcasting became digital with DVB-T and MPEG4 standard. TV 2 Zulu
TV 2 Zulu is a Danish television station and a sister channel to TV 2 Denmark. It is primarily aimed at viewers between 15 and 30 years of age. TV2 Zulu has been noted for Danish comedy shows and programmes such as '' Langt fra Las Vegas'', ''Gustne Gensyn'', '' P.I.S.'', ''Klovn'' and ''FC Zulu'', the latter of which was nominated for an International Emmy in 2005 for best Non-scripted Entertainment. From 2000 to 2007, TV2 Zulu broadcast live NFL games. TV2 Zulu is also known for its award shows such as Zulu Awards and Zulu Comedy Galla. Zulu Comedy Galla is a part of Zulu Comedy Festival, where comedians, both Danish and foreign, are performing in the capital of Denmark, Copenhagen. TV 2 Charlie
TV 2 Charlie is a Danish television channel owned by TV 2. It was launched on 1 October 2004. The channel shows own productions and British criminal dramas (like ''Dalziel and Pascoe'', ''A Touch of Frost'' and ''Silent Witness''.) It broadcasts from 8:00 in the afternoon to 02:00 in the night, and is available by digital antenna (DVB-T/T2 & MPEG4), cable and satellite. In recent years programming airs almost continually, with only a short break in the deep hours of the night around 4:00. The channel is funded by usage fees and advertising. The commercials appear between the programmes only. On satellite, TV 2 Charlie (as well as TV 2 Zulu and TV 2 Film) was initially exclusively available via Canal Digital. The competing Viasat platform started broadcasting the channels in January 2009. TV 2 News (former working title: TV 2 Nyhedskanalen) is a Danish language television news channel which started broadcasting on 1 December 2006. It's one of the first 24-hour news channels in the Danish language ( 24Nordjyske is also a 24-hour news channel but is only shown in Nordjylland). There are editorial offices at the TV 2 headquarters at Kvægtorvet in Odense, and in Copenhagen. On 31 March 2008 TV 2 News started broadcasting in the 16:9 widescreen format with an entirely new set of graphics. Programming The channel uses a 30-minute newswheel, with focus on different subjects throughout the day, for example traffic reports from the Danish Road Directorate, business news (17 Finans is a daily business programme updating viewers on latest in business) and sport (especially in the weekends).
