576i is a standard-definition television, standard-definition digital video mode, originally used for digitizing analog television in most countries of the world where the utility frequency for electric power distribution is 50 Hz. RiksTV (formerly ''NTV Pluss'') is the distributor of pay television in the Norwegian digital terrestrial television network. Except for NRK1, NRK2, NRK3/NRK Super and the NRK radio channels, all broadcasts in the Norwegian DTT network are encrypted. The channels that are broadcast in the RiksTV packages are selected by RiksTV themselves. History Pre-launch Some of the initial discussions concerned the availability of free-to-air channels other than the ones from NRK. TV 2 and TVNorge had stated that their channels would be encrypted, although they were free-to-air in the analogue network. TV 2 Sport (formerely TV 2 Sport and TV2 Sportskanalen), currently stylized as TV 2 Sport 1 and TV 2 Sport 2, is a Norwegian channel, formerly Pay-TV, that shows sports. The channel is spread out over 2 different channels, named TV 2 Sport 1 and TV 2 Sport 2, earlier TV2 Sport 1-5. It heavily features football, including broadcasting of the Norwegian top division for several years. This channel also broadcasts international matches, such as the Premier League. Standard-definition television (SDTV, SD, often shortened to standard definition) is a television system which uses a resolution that is not considered to be either high or enhanced definition. TV 2 Nyheter (''TV 2 News'') is a 24-hour Norwegian language television news channel which started broadcasting on 15 January 2007. It is Norway's first national news network in Norwegian, although Nyhetskanalen did exist from 1997 to 1998. The channel's main newsroom is located in Bergen. Programming Weekdays The channel has broadcasts with presenters in the studio from 06:00 to 22:30. However the newsroom is manned the whole day and thus, the channel can quickly go on air at the last minute in case news breaks during the night. Through the night, the day's news items are non-stop in Nyhetshjulet. At the same time, a news ticker rolls across the bottom of the screen all day with updates from NTB, TV 2 Nyhetene, TV 2 Sporten, and NA24.no.
