TT Class 8
TT Class 8 are the only remaining trams used on the Trondheim Tramway. Built by Linke-Hofmann-Busch (LHB) in 1984–85, they replaced the aging Class 7 trams used by Trondheim Trafikkselskap (TT). Of the eleven built, nine remain in service on the Gråkallen Line operated by Boreal Bane. Specifications Class 8 is built for the unique combination of meter gauge and wagon width of the tramways in Trondheim. long, they have a capacity of 53 seated and 85 standing passengers in a 2+2 configuration. With a single driver's cab, all but 4 seats are forward facing. Two motors from Siemens power each of the end bogies, while the center bogie is unpowered. Operation Four trams are needed to serve the Gråkallen Line on a 15-minute headway. With two in reserve, six trams are in regular service. Alstom Transport Deutschland, formerly Linke-Hofmann-Busch, is a German manufacturing company originally established in Breslau (now Wrocław, Poland) to produce locomotives and rolling stock. The Norwegian Institute of Technology (Norwegian: ''Norges tekniske høgskole'', NTH) was a science institute in Trondheim, Norway. It was established in 1910, and existed as an independent technical university for 58 years, after which it was merged into the University of Trondheim as an independent college. In 1996 NTH ceased to exist as an organizational superstructure when the university was restructured and rebranded. The former NTH departments are now basic building blocks of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). NTH was primarily a polytechnic institute, educating master level engineers as well as architects. Lian, Norway
Lian is a recreational area located west of the city centre of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is situated on the border between the neighborhood of Byåsen and the forested area of Bymarka. The site came into popular recreational use in 1933 when the Gråkallen Line (''Gråkallbanen'') of the Trondheim Tramway was extended. Lian Station remains the terminus of Gråkallbanen. With the arrival of the tramway, a ski jump was built and Lian Restaurant was opened at the end of the line. The area became a primary location for winter sports in the city. Lianvannet was an important swimming place during the summer and was also possible to rent row boats. A dancing area was also built. Tatra T5C5
The Tatra T5C5 is a single-car tram built by ÄŒKD Tatra in Prague in the late 1970s and early 1980s. In 1978, two prototypes were tested in Prague and Budapest. They differed in many ways to earlier Tatra products, most notably that the vehicle was controlled by a hand lever rather than a foot pedal. Between 1978 and 1984, 322 vehicles were supplied to Budapest and, as of September 2020, all are in service with 2 of them being used exclusively for driver training purposes. Modernizations Between 2002 and 2004 80 T5C5 units were extensively refurbished : the old drive system (resistor and series-parallel control) was replaced by chopper control using IGBT transistors. ČKD (Českomoravská Kolben-Daněk) () was one of the largest engineering companies in the former Czechoslovakia and today's Czech Republic. It is famous for the Tatra T3, a tramcar that sold 13,991 units worldwide. Valmet Nr II
Nr II is a class of articulated six-axle (B′2′B′ wheel arrangement), chopper-driven tram operated by Helsinki City Transport (HKL) on the Helsinki tram network. All trams of this type were built by the Finnish metal industry corporation Valmet between the years 1983 and 1987. Between 1996 and 2005 all trams in the class were modernised by HKL and redesignated as Nr II+ class. From 2006-2011, all trams of this class were rebuilt with a low-floor midsection and redesignated as MLNRV II.
