TSG Weinheim is a German association football club from the city of Weinheim, Baden-Württemberg. The origins of the club go back to the founding on 20 August 1862 of the gymnastics club ''Turnverein Weinheim''. __TOC__ History In 1878 the club split into two branches with the formation of ''TV II Weinheim''. The Verbandsliga Nordbaden is a German amateur football division administered by the Baden Football Association, one of the 21 German state football associations. Being the top flight of the Baden state association, the Verbandsliga is currently a level 6 division of the German football league system. Overview The league was formed as Amateurliga Nordbaden in 1945 in the northern half of the then-state of Württemberg-Baden, which is now the northwestern part of the German state of Baden-Württemberg. Weinheim
Weinheim (; pfl, Woinem) is a town with about 43,000 inhabitants in northwest Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is in the Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region, approximately north of Heidelberg and northeast of Mannheim. Weinheim is known as the "Zwei-Burgen-Stadt", the "town of two castles", after two fortresses overlooking the town from the edge of the Odenwald in the east. Geography Weinheim is situated on the Bergstraße theme route on the western rim of the Odenwald. The old town lies in the valley, with the new part of town further to the west. The Weinheim Longhorns are an American football team from Weinheim, Germany. The club's greatest success was promotion to the German Football League in 2006, where it spent four seasons. In this time the club reached the play-offs on three occasions. It is also notable as the team where Markus Kuhn played before going to College in the US and later being drafted in the seventh round by the New York Giants. Kuhn later became the first German born player to score an NFL touchdown. History The club was formed in 1990 as the football department of the TSG Weinheim. The ''Longhorns'' entered league football in 1991, playing in the tier four Verbandsliga Baden-Württemberg. Oberliga Baden-Württemberg
The Oberliga Baden-Württemberg is the highest association football league in the state of Baden-Württemberg and the Baden-Württemberg football league system. It is one of fourteen Oberligas in German football, the fifth tier of the German football league system. Until the introduction of the 3. Liga in 2008 it was the fourth tier of the league system, and until the introduction of the Regionalligas in 1994 the third tier. In sports leagues, promotion and relegation is a process where teams are transferred between multiple divisions based on their performance for the completed season.
