TK Sparta Prague
TK Sparta Prague ( cs, Tenisový klub Sparta Praha) is a tennis club and training center in Bubeneč, Prague, Czech Republic. Located near Stromovka on the left bank of the Vltava, it is one of the most prestigious tennis clubs in the country. History TK Sparta Prague was founded in 1905. It houses 23 outdoor and 12 indoor courts. The club hosts the WTA Prague Open and the Sparta Prague Open Challenger. The club was damaged during the 2002 and 2013 European floods. Bubeneč
Bubeneč is a district in the north-west of Prague. 52% of the district is in Prague 7, but most of the built-up area is in Prague 6. Sparta Prague football club and their stadium Generali Arena is situated at the south-eastern edge of Bubeneč, and the district also covers Stromovka park (Královská obora) and a convention centre Výstaviště. The name Bubeneč is masculine, although Czech grammar rules also allow its use as a feminine. Jan Kodeš
Jan Kodeš (born 1 March 1946) is a Czech former professional tennis player. A three-time major singles champion, Kodeš was one of the premier players in the early 1970s. Kodeš's greatest success was achieved on the clay courts of the French Open, where he won the singles title in 1970 and 1971. However, he also won Wimbledon on grass courts in 1973, although the tournament was largely boycotted by top players that year over the ban of Nikola Pilić by the International Lawn Tennis Federation (ILTF). Kodeš never played at the Australian Open, but was twice the runner-up at the US Open, in 1971 and 1973. Kodeš reached his highest ATP ranking of world No. 5 in September 1973. During the Open Era, he won nine top-level singles titles and 17 doubles titles. Kodeš was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1990. Laura Samson
Laura Samson (also known as Laura Samsonová; born 10 March 2008) is a Czech tennis player. Career Junior career A member of TK Sparta Prague, Samsonová won her first junior title as a 13 year-old at a J5 event in Prostějov in a October 2021, without dropping a set. It was her first junior-level event. She then won her second J5 event in November 2021 in Silla-Saledar in Spain, and reached the final in her third, in Montemar. In July 2023, she won the final of the Girls' doubles alongside compatriot Alena Kovačková. In the final they faced Hannah Klugman and Isabelle Lacy of Great Britain, winning in straight sets. It was the first Czech pairing to win the title since Barbora Krejčíková and Kateřina Siniaková in 2013. Livesport Prague Open
The Prague Open (currently branded as the Livesport Prague Open for sponsorship reasons) is a professional women's tennis tournament held in Prague, Czech Republic. It began in 2010, initially as an ITF Circuit $50,000 event upgraded to $100,000. Subsequently, from 2015 onwards it became a WTA International tournament and the prize money increased to $250,000. The tournament is played on outdoor hard courts, at the TK Sparta Praha. Prior to 2021, the tournament was held on outdoor clay courts. Hana Mandlíková
Hana Mandlíková (born 19 February 1962) is a former professional tennis player from Czechoslovakia who later obtained Australian citizenship. During her career she won four Grand Slam singles titles - the 1980 Australian Open, 1981 French Open, 1985 US Open and 1987 Australian Open. She was also runner-up in four Grand Slam singles events - twice at Wimbledon and twice at the US Open.
