Bubeneč
Bubeneč is a district in the north-west of Prague. 52% of the district is in Prague 7, but most of the built-up area is in Prague 6. Sparta Prague football club and their stadium Generali Arena is situated at the south-eastern edge of Bubeneč, and the district also covers Stromovka park (Královská obora) and a convention centre Výstaviště. The name Bubeneč is masculine, although Czech grammar rules also allow its use as a feminine. Bubeneč is sometimes informally called "Little Moscow" due to the high concentration of various entities and buildings related to the Russian government and private businesses, including the vast Embassy of Russia and the office of Rossotrudnichestvo. The statue of Ivan Konev was a monument to Soviet general Ivan Konev that was erected in Prague in 1980. In the late 2010s, it became a subject of controversy within Czech Republic–Russia relations, resulting in its removal in 2020. History The statue was unveiled during the Victory Day celebrations on 9 May 1980, and intended to commemorate Soviet Marshal Ivan Stepanovich Konev, who commanded Red Army troops that occupied Prague from the hands of the Nazis near to the end of World War II. It depicted a life-sized figure of Konev, holding in his hand a bouquet of lilacs, which civilians reportedly presented to the Red Army when it entered Czechoslovakia in May 1945. Stromovka
Stromovka (Royal Game Reserve) is a large park in the Bubeneč district of Prague. It sits on the floodplain of the river Vltava. At present, it spreads over an area of 95 hectares. It was established in the thirteenth century as a game reserve for the nearby summerhouse. At the beginning of the 19th century, it was converted into a park, which later in the 19th and 20th centuries was reduced by the construction of railways, the building of the Academy of Fine Arts and the Planetarium, a ship canal, and last but not least by the construction of the exhibition ground. Boris Nemtsov Square, Prague
Náměstí Borise Němcova (Boris Nemtsov Square) (until 27 February 2020 Pod kaštany Square) is a square in Prague 6, Bubeneč, which houses the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Czech republic. Original name The path from the Písek Gate to the Royal Game Preserve and the Governor's Summer Palace was originally a tree-lined avenue of lime trees, which were gradually replaced by chestnut trees during the 18th and 19th centuries. The road was renamed "Královská" in 1901, renamed Pod kaštany Street in 1925, and the small square at the end of the road was renamed Pod kaštany (Under the Chestnuts Square). Friedrich Petschek's villa, 19/1 Pod kaštany Square, was designed by architect Max Spielmann and built by architect Matěj Blecha in 1927-1930 for Bedřich (Friedrich) Petschek, who soon sold it to banker Jiří (Georg) Popper. The Embassy of Russia in Prague is the diplomatic mission of the Russian Federation to the Czech Republic. The chancery is located at ul. Prague 7 is a municipal district (''městská část'') in Prague, Czech Republic. The administrative district (''správní obvod'') of the same name consists of the quarters Letná, Holešovice, Bubny, Bubeneč, Troja as well as a small part of Libeň. Prague 6, formally the municipal district Prague 6 (''Městská část Praha 6''), is the largest Prague district. It is located in the north-west of Prague. It covers 41.54 km² and has 100,600 inhabitants (31.12.2008). The administrative district (''správní obvod'') of the same name comprises Prague 6 and municipal districts Lysolaje, Nebušice, Přední Kopanina and Suchdol. Výstaviště in Prague is an exhibition ground which is used for exhibitions, concerts and other cultural events, founded in 1891. It is located in Bubeneč near the metro station on Metro line C Nádraží Holešovice. In the immediate area on the west side there is a large park Stromovka and a planetarium, on the eastern Tipsport Arena, home hall of the club HC Sparta Praha. Holešovice () is a district in the north of Prague situated on a meander of the River Vltava, which makes up the main part of the district Prague 7 (an insignificant part belongs to Prague 1). Dejvice
Dejvice is a historical community, a municipal quarter of the Prague 6 district of Prague, Czech Republic. Its history can be traced back to the late Roman era. Dejvice is known for its appeal to the upper middle class, foreign diplomatic corps and as a university district. It is also the home to Dukla Prague, one of the most successful football clubs of the Czechoslovak era.
