TCR World Tour
The TCR World Tour is an international touring car racing tour for TCR cars. The competition will consist of nine events selected from a number of TCR series worldwide, and will be promoted by former World Touring Car Championship manager Marcello Lotti's WSC Group Ltd. History On 14 October 2022, it was reported that the World Touring Car Cup would be folding in that format following the 2022 season due to numerous logistical difficulties caused by COVID-19 pandemic. On the same day, WSC announced the formation of the TCR World Tour. It was launched in order to replace the WTCR. On 12 November 2022, it was announced that Mount Panorama Circuit would feature on the calendar as part of the TCR Australia Touring Car Series. On 30 November 2022, it was confirmed that Algarve International Circuit, Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps and Hungaroring would feature on the calendar as part of the TCR Europe Touring Car Series. 2023 TCR World Tour
The 2023 Kumho TCR World Tour was the inaugural season of the TCR World Tour, a new international touring car racing competition for TCR cars. Effectively succeeding the WTCR series, it was also the ninth season of international TCR competition dating back to the 2015 TCR International Series. The season consisted of nine events selected from a number of TCR series worldwide, and will determine 15 of the drivers to qualify for the end-of-year TCR World Ranking Final, where the overall TCR world champion will be determined. The highest-ranked driver and team in the World Tour will be awarded the TCR World Tour Cup. It started on 28 April at Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, Portugal and is planned to end on 19 November at Guia Circuit, Macau. Touring Car Racing
Touring car racing is a motorsport road racing competition with heavily modified road-going cars. It has both similarities to and significant differences from stock car racing, which is popular in the United States. While the cars do not move as fast as those in Formula racing, formula or sports car racing, sports car races, their similarity both to one another and to fans' own vehicles makes for entertaining, well-supported racing. The lesser use of aerodynamics means following cars have a much easier time passing than in open-wheel racing, and the more substantial bodies of the cars makes the subtle bumping and nudging for overtaking much more acceptable as part of racing. TCR International Series
The TCR International Series was an international touring car championship. The championship was promoted by World Sporting Consulting (WSC), founded by former World Touring Car Championship manager Marcello Lotti. It was marketed as a cost-effective spin-off of the WTCC, targeted at C-segment hatchbacks production-based touring cars. The title TCR follows the naming convention now used by the FIA to classify the cars that compete in touring car racing, with TC1 referring to the top tier as used by the FIA WTCC and TC2 referring to the legacy cars which principally compete in the FIA ETCC. Sydney Motorsport Park (known until May 2012 as Eastern Creek International Raceway) is a motorsport circuit located on Brabham Drive, Eastern Creek (40-kilometres west of the Sydney CBD), New South Wales, Australia, adjacent to the Western Sydney International Dragway. The 2024 Kumho FIA TCR World Tour is the second season of the TCR World Tour, an international touring car racing series for TCR cars. Effectively succeeding the WTCR series, it is the tenth season of international TCR competition dating back to the 2015 TCR International Series. The season marks the return of Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) status for the competition after a single-year hiatus. The season will consist of seven events selected from a number of TCR series worldwide, while a separate TCR World Ranking Final for privateer drivers will be held at the end of the year. The Guia Circuit, or Circuito da Guia, is a street circuit located at the southeast region of the Macau Peninsula in Macau. It is the venue of the Macau Grand Prix and Guia Race of Macau. Autódromo José Carlos Bassi is a street circuit located in Villa Mercedes, San Luis, Argentina. History The circuit was named after José Carlos Bassi, who was also responsible for the nearby circuits in San Luis Province, Autódromo Rosendo Hernández and Potrero de los Funes Circuit.
