The World Bowls Championship is the premier world bowls competition between national bowls organisations. The premier indoor event is the World Indoor Bowls Championships listed separately and is organised by the World Bowls Tour. World Outdoor Championships First held in Australia in 1966, the World Outdoor Bowls Championships for men and women are held every four years. Atlantic Bowls Championships
The Atlantic Bowls Championships was a lawn bowling competition held between national bowls organisations in the Atlantic region. The event was a qualifying event for the World Outdoor Bowls Championships until the 2021 announcement that it would no longer be held. Originally the Championships were for women only and were called the Atlantic Rim Championships. In 2007 men competed for the first time at the event. The 2001 tournament due to be held in Namibia was cancelled due to opposition from the Namibia Sports Commission. The next tournament was held in 2005. Susanna Sophie Nel (born 27 August 1956) is a South African international lawn bowler. Bowls career In 2009 she won the fours silver medal at the Atlantic Bowls Championships and in 2011 she won the fours silver medal and triples bronze at the Atlantic Bowls Championships. She competed in the women's fours and the women's triples events at the 2014 Commonwealth Games where she won a gold and bronze medal respectively. She was the 2014 pairs runner-up at the National Championships, bowling for the Rustenberg Impala Bowls Club. The South African National Bowls Championships is organised by Bowls South Africa (BSA).
