Switzerland competed at the 1932 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, United States. Medalists Bobsleigh Nordic combined Events: * 18 km cross-country skiing * normal hill ski jumping The cross-country skiing part of this event was combined with the main medal event of cross-country skiing. Some athletes (but not all) entered in both the cross-country skiing and Nordic combined event, their time on the 18 km was used for both events. Swiss Olympic (also known as german: Schweizerischer Olympischer Verband, french: Association Olympique Suisse, it, Associazione Olimpica Svizzera, rm, Assiociaziun Olimpica Svizra) is the National Olympic Committee and the umbrella organisation for organised Swiss sport under private law. Lake Placid is a village in the Adirondack Mountains in Essex County, New York, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 2,303. The village of Lake Placid is near the center of the town of North Elba, southwest of Plattsburgh. Reto Capadrutt (4 March 1912 – 3 February 1939) was a Swiss bobsledder who competed in the 1930s. Competing in two Winter Olympics, he won a silver medal in the two-man event in 1932 and another silver medal in the four-man event in 1936. Capadrutt also won three medals at the FIBT World Championships, with one gold (Two-man: 1935) and two bronzes (Two-man: 1937, Four-man: 1935). At the time of the 1932 Winter Olympics, he was linked to a romantic relationship with Elizabeth "Betty" Hood, daughter of John Ahearn.
