Suså Municipality
Until January 1, 2007 Suså was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in the former Storstrøm County in the southern part of the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in south Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 145 km2, and had a total population of 8,529 (2005). Its last mayor was Poul Erik Sørensen, a member of the Social Democrats (''Socialdemokraterne'') political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council was the town of Glumsø. Suså municipality ceased to exist due to ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It was merged with Fladså, Fuglebjerg, Holmegaard, and Næstved municipalities to form the new Næstved municipality. This created a municipality with an area of 681 km2 and a total population of 78,446 (2005). Danish Language
Danish (; , ) is a North Germanic language spoken by about six million people, principally in and around Denmark. Communities of Danish speakers are also found in Greenland, the Faroe Islands, and the northern German region of Southern Schleswig, where it has minority language status. Storstrøm County
Storstrøms Amt (English ''Storstrøm County'') is a former county (Danish: ''amt'') on the islands of Zealand (''Sjælland''), Møn, Falster, Lolland and some minor islands in southeast Denmark. The county was formed on 1 April 1970, comprising the former counties of Maribo and Præstø. The county was abolished effective January 1, 2007, when it merged into Region Sjælland (i.e. ''Region Zealand''). The county was a somewhat artificial construction as the islands of Lolland and Falster did not traditionally share any institutions with Zealand, but rather with Funen. Zealand (Denmark)
Zealand ( da, Sjælland ) at 7,031 km2 is the largest and most populous island in Denmark proper (thus excluding Greenland and Disko Island, which are larger in size). Zealand had a population of 2,319,705 on 1 January 2020. It is the 13th-largest island in Europe by area and the 4th most populous. It is connected to Sprogø and Funen by the Great Belt Fixed Link and to Amager by several bridges in Copenhagen. Indirectly, through the island of Amager and the Øresund Bridge, it is also linked to Scania in Sweden. Social Democrats (Denmark)
The Social Democrats ( da, Socialdemokraterne, ) is a social democratic political party in Denmark. A member of the Party of European Socialists (PES), the Social Democrats have 50 out of 179 members of the Danish parliament (following the latest Danish general election held in 2022), Folketing, and three out of fourteen MEPs elected from Denmark. Founded by Louis Pio in 1871, the party first entered the Folketing in the 1884 Danish Folketing election. Glumsø
Glumsø is a railway town, with a population of 2,121 (1.January 2022), located on the southern part of Zealand in Denmark. Until 1.January 2007 it was the seat of Suså Municipality. Glumsø Station is located in Glumsø, serving the Sydbanen line. The station was heavily redesigned in late 2009. Before being redesigned it used to serve German ICE trains on the Copenhagen-Hamburg line, although ICE trains now just pass through. Fladså was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in Storstrøm County in south Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 133 km², and had a total population of 7,581 (2005). Its last mayor was Hans R. Hansen, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party. The seat of its municipal council was at . Neighboring municipalities were Rønnede to the east, Holmegaard to the north, Næstved to the west, and Præstø and Vordingborg to the south. Until 1 January 2007, Holmegaard was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in Storstrøm County in the southern part of the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in south Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 66 km2, and had a total population of 7,442 (2005). Its last mayor was Søren Dysted, a member of the Social Democrats (''Socialdemokraterne'') political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council was the town of Fensmark. The municipality was created in 1966 when the following parishes were combined: Fensmark-Rislev Parish and Holme-Olstrup Parish. Næstved
Næstved () is a town in the municipality of the same name, located in the southern part of the island of Zealand in Denmark. Næstved has several adult education centers, five elementary schools - and has at least one of each type of the four upper-second-level education centers.
