Sushila Chanu
Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam (born 25 February 1992) is an Indian field hockey player. A former captain of Indian national team, she has a total of 150 international caps to her credit. Born in Imphal, Manipur, Chanu began playing hockey at the age of eleven, and was soon selected for the national camp. Chanu rose to prominence in 2013, when she led the junior women's team to a bronze medal finish at the Women's Hockey Junior World Cup at Mönchengladbach. She then made her debut in the senior national team, and was part of the squad that won the bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games held at Incheon. Chanu was also praised for her performance at the 2014–15 Men's FIH Hockey World League Semifinals where the Indian team upstaged such higher ranked teams as Japan for a fifth-place finish. Women's Asian Champions Trophy
The Women's Asian Champions Trophy is a biennial women's international field hockey competition contested by the best five women's national teams of the member associations of the Asian Hockey Federation. The tournament has been won by three different teams. South Korea are the defending champions and have to most titles with three. Japan has two titles and India has won the tournament once. The 2014–15 Men's FIH Hockey World League Semifinals took place in June and July 2015. A total of 20 teams competing in 2 events took part in this round of the tournament playing for 7 berths in the Final, played between 5–13 December 2015 in Raipur, India. In sport, a cap is a player's appearance in a game at international level. The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of rugby football and association football. In the early days of football, the concept of each team wearing a set of matching shirts had not been universally adopted, so each side would distinguish itself from the other by wearing a specific sort of cap. An early illustration of the first international football match between Scotland and England in 1872 shows the Scottish players wearing cowls, and the English wearing a variety of school caps. The Women's FIH Hockey Junior World Cup, formerly known as the Women's Hockey Junior World Cup, is the field hockey Junior World Cup competition for women, with the format for qualification and the final tournament similar to the men's. It is organized by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) and has been played since 1989. The tournament features players who are under 21 years of age and is held once every two years. Four teams have dominated in past events. Netherlands is the most successful team, having won the tournament four times, this followed by Korea and Argentina. Germany have won the tournament once.
