Supernova (Nova Twins Album)
''Supernova'' is the second full-length album by British rock duo Nova Twins, released 17 June 2022 by Marshall Records. The album peaked at No. 14 and No. 27 on the Scottish and UK album charts, respectively, and was nominated for the 2022 Mercury Prize. Background The album's impending release was announced in February 2022, with the songs "Antagonist", "K.M.B.", "Cleopatra", "Puzzles" and "Choose Your Fighter" issued as singles to preview the album. The album's lyrics are inspired by Nova Twins' experiences playing live before increasingly diverse audiences, after a long layoff from touring during the COVID-19 pandemic, which was particularly challenging because their previous album ''Who Are the Girls?'' was beginning to attract critical notice just before the onset of the pandemic. Nova Twins
Nova Twins are an English rock duo formed in London, England, in 2014, consisting of vocalist/guitarist Amy Love and bassist Georgia South. Their most recent album, ''Supernova'', was released in June 2022. Career Love and South have been close friends since childhood and have played in bands that were often booked on the same bill. Both of them come from a mixed background; Love is of Iranian and Nigerian descent, and South is of Jamaican and Australian descent. (Georgia South's father, William South, is also a musician). They formed a band together in 2014 named BRAATS, releasing the song "Bad Bitches" under that name. Marshall Records
Marshall is a British company that designs and manufactures music amplifiers, speaker cabinets, brands personal headphones and earphones, drums and bongos. The company also owns a record label called Marshall Records. It was founded in London by drum shop owner and drummer, Jim Marshall, and is now based in Bletchley, Milton Keynes, England. Marshall's guitar amplifiers are among the most recognised in the world. ''Who Are the Girls?'' is the debut studio album by British rock duo Nova Twins, released 28 February 2020 by 333 Wreckords Crew. Background The album is the group's first release with 333 Wreckords Crew, with which they signed in December 2019. It has been noted for its similarities to Enter Shikari and The Prodigy, but with elements of arena rock and nu-metal. The British music press has coined the term "grime punk" to describe the album's sound. The album was entirely recorded with live instruments, including extensive use of guitar and bass pedals, with no samples or synthesizers. The album's title is a reference to the experiences of Amy Love and Georgia South as black women attending rock concerts. In the years before the album's release, Nova Twins had been noted for their performances at British rock music festivals, in which most of the other participants were white males. Metacritic is a website that review aggregator, aggregates reviews of films, TV shows, music albums, video games and formerly, books. For each product, the scores from each review are averaged (a weighted arithmetic mean, weighted average). Metacritic was created by Jason Dietz, Marc Doyle, and Julie Doyle Roberts in 1999. The site provides an excerpt from each review and hyperlinks to its source. A color of green, yellow or red summarizes the critics' recommendations. It is regarded as the foremost online review aggregation site for the video game industry. Weighted Mean
The weighted arithmetic mean is similar to an ordinary arithmetic mean (the most common type of average), except that instead of each of the data points contributing equally to the final average, some data points contribute more than others.
