Superior Technical School Of Architecture Of Madrid
The Higher Technical School of Architecture of Madrid ( es, Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid, ETSAM) is the school of architecture of the Technical University of Madrid (UPM), Spain. It trains future architects and grants the title of Architect, as well as doctorates and various master's degrees. The center is located on the Avenida Juan de Herrera, 4, within the University City of Madrid. The present building has been used since 1936. It has an extensive library, which includes original works of Le Corbusier, Serlio and Andrés de Vandelvira, the recent architecture journals, and influential books on modern architecture. This school is considered by many industry professionals to be the best in Spain, and one of the best worldwide. Alberto Campo Baeza
Alberto Campo Baeza (born 1946, in Valladolid) is a Spanish architect and Full-Time Design Professor at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid from 1986 to 2017. He retired the same year. He has built a selected number of awarded buildings. He has been considered part of the group of designers who introduced Minimalism in architecture, together with architects such as David Chipperfield and John Pawson. Campo defends the elimination of color in architecture, as a mean to maximize the expressivity of natural light. Salvador Valeri i Pupurull (1873–1954) was a Catalan architect who worked in the style of Modernisme. Alejandro De La Sota (architect)
Alejandro de la Sota Martínez (October 20, 1913 - 14 February 1996) was a Spanish architect. He was born in Pontevedra in Galicia. He graduated from the Technical University of Madrid in 1941 and, from 1956 to 1972 he was a professor there. After graduation, de la Sota continued to live in Madrid, although he maintained links with his native Galicia. He was a promoter of the industrialisation of construction in the 1960s. His Maravillas School gymnasium of 1961 was the first steel-framed building in Madrid. Dora's buildings combine geometric rigor with constructive sincerity and a structural boldness of form that still surprises today. Manuel Sánchez Arcas
Manuel Sánchez Arcas (1897–1970) was a Spanish Modernist architect. During the Spanish Civil War (1936–1939) he served in the Republican government as Undersecretary for Propaganda. After the Republican defeat he went into exile in Moscow, Warsaw and Berlin. Life Early years: 1897–1936 Manuel Sánchez Arcas was born in Madrid in 1897. Juan Herreros
Juan Herreros (born 1958 in San Lorenzo del Escorial) is a Spanish architect. His work promotes a pragmatic review of the tradition of modern architecture. Antonio Palacios Ramilo (8 January 1874 – 27 October 1945) was a Spanish architect. Distinguished by the monumental eclecticism he left as imprint in many of his projects, he helped define the architectural identity of Madrid in the first half of the 20th century. Juan Navarro Baldeweg
Juan Navarro Baldeweg (11 June 1939, Santander) is a Spanish architect and professor at the Superior Technical School of Architecture of Madrid (ETSAM). He is currently retired from architectural practice. Baldeweg studied at the San Fernando School of Fine Arts of Madrid, and the School of Architecture of the Technical University of Madrid, where he graduated in 1965. From 1977 to 2014 (year when he retired) he was appointed as teacher of the ETSAM, though for more than 20 years he was hardly ever seen in the school. Manuel Martin Madrid is a Spanish architect. He was born in Madrid in 1938. He graduated as an Architect from the Superior Technical School of Architecture of Madrid in 1965 and obtained his PhD in Architecture in 1969. That same year he started the Office of Urbanistic Information (OIC) at the COAC in Girona. Rafael Moneo
José Rafael Moneo Vallés (born 9 May 1937) is a Spanish architect. He won the Pritzker Prize for architecture in 1996, the RIBA Royal Gold Medal in 2003 and La Biennale's Golden Lion in 2021. Biography Born in Tudela, Spain, Moneo studied at the ETSAM, Technical University of Madrid (UPM) from which he received his architectural degree in 1961. From the Davis Art Museum at Wellesley College in Massachusetts and the Audrey Jones Beck Building (an expansion of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston).
