Superheist
Superheist is an Australian metal band, which formed in 1993. They have released two EPs, thirteen singles, one compilation/live album and four studio albums, two of which, 2001's ''The Prize Recruit'' and 2002's ''Identical Remote Controlled Reactions'', reached the top 20 on the ARIA Albums Chart. After a twelve-year hiatus, their 2016 comeback album "Ghosts of the Social Dead" reached No. 3 on the AIR Charts and remained in the Top 10 for four weeks. Four of the group's singles, "Crank the System" (November 2000), "Bullet" (March 2001), " 7 Years" (May 2002) and "A Dignified Rage" (September 2002), each peaked in the Top 50 on the related ARIA Singles Chart. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2001 Kalju Tonuma was nominated for Producer of the Year and Engineer of the Year for his work on ''The Prize Recruit''. Crank The System
"Crank the System" is the lead single by the Australian nu metal band Superheist from their first album ''The Prize Recruit''. It was issued ahead of the album on 27 November 2000 on Shock Records' imprint Pivotal Records. The track was co-written by all five Superheist members and peaked at No. 45 on the ARIA Singles Chart. The album and single were produced by Kalju Tonuma. The B-side includes a grindcore version of the main song, then "Two Faced", "Pulse", "Move the Fuck Around" and "Bullet for You" – an early demo of the next single from the album. This song was later reworked into "Bullet". Background In mid-1999 Superheist toured nationally backing Sepultura, but shortly their bass guitarist, Simon "Si" Durrant left and returned to his home town of Adelaide where he joined a short-lived project, Screwface:13. ''The Prize Recruit'' is the debut full-length album from Australian nu metal band Superheist. It was recorded at Sing Sing Studios in Melbourne by Superheist and producer Kalju Tonuma and released on 15 April 2001. It peaked at No. 12 on the ARIA Albums Chart. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2001, Tonuma was nominated for Producer of the Year and Engineer of the Year for the album. ''Identical Remote Controlled Reactions'' is the second studio album by Australian nu metal group Superheist. It is the only album to feature Joey Biro as lead vocalist. The album proved far stronger than their previous album, ''The Prize Recruit'', in song personality and overall weight in sound. Though not taken as well by critics, it was well received by the fanbase. The album itself seemed far more adventurous in sound, with short instrumental interludes included between songs and far more experimentation with keyboards and bass. A Dignified Rage
"A Dignified Rage" is a song by Australian nu metal group Superheist, released as the second single, from their second album ''Identical Remote Controlled Reactions''. It was issued on 26 August 2002 by the Pivotal Records label via Shock Records. Recording The track's foundations were written by Dedman on a beach in Red Rock, Northern NSW and was just an acoustic idea that him and Biro jammed on from time to time. The track was overlooked during initial pre-production as it did not seem to fit with the style of the rest of the album. It was eventually taken into the studio and extra parts were co-written by all five members. DW Norton
Richard William "DW" Norton (born 22 February 1970), is a Scottish-born Australian entertainer, songwriter, producer, guitarist and founding mainstay of metallers, Superheist (1993–2004, 2016–present). In 1998 he established Faultline Records – he has worked as the label's in house producer and CEO. He lives with his wife and fellow artist, London Gabraelle-Norton. Biography DW Norton was the guitarist for Big Pop Monsters, an alternative rock group, alongside Rod "Berger" McLeod on vocals, Sean Pentecost on drums and Adrian Sudborough on bass guitar. In 1993 Norton, McLeod, Pentecost and Sudborough were joined by Fetah Sabawi on keyboards and samples to form Superheist in Frankston. In 1998, while still a member of Superheist, Norton established an independent record label, Faultline Records, initially for development of artists. New, Rare, Live
''New, Rare, Live'' is a 2004 compilation album by the Australian band Superheist. It includes the band's final recorded songs with earlier songs and live recordings of the group's final concert at Melbourne in 2003. Background In mid 2003 Superheist began working on their third studio album. However, after a turbulent second half of the year touring, loss of management and an eventual disastrous band breakup, the album was never completed. There were however four new tracks completed featuring Joey Biro on vocals ("Seasons, Get A Life, Vultures and Hole in the Head") and an additional single, "The Road", with Cam Baines of Bodyjar on lead vocals. These five tracks were later released with a bunch of B-sides from Supeheist's back catalog and this became disc 1 of ''New, rare, Live''. ''Sidewinder'' is the fourth album from Australian nu metal band Superheist, released on 3 May 2019 through Black Mountain Music. The album was announced on 1 April 2019 alongside the release of the first single "The Riot", and a music video for the track was released on the band's YouTube channel the same day. It is the first Superheist release to feature bassist Si Durrant since 2000's ''8 Miles High'' and the first album to feature guitarist Keir Gotcher and former Devil You Know (now known as Light the Torch) drummer John Sankey. John Sankey (drummer)
John Gerard Sankey (born 21 July 1975) is an Australian heavy metal drummer, best known as the drummer for Devolved and Devil You Know (now known as Light the Torch). He has also worked with numerous other high profile bands including Fear Factory, Divine Heresy and Superheist. Career In 2001, Sankey relocated from Australia to Los Angeles to begin a new band with Fear Factory guitarist Dino Cazares which became Divine Heresy. Sankey and Cazares also co-wrote music for the Roadrunner United album, meanwhile Sankey continued to write, record and tour America with his band Devolved. In 2012, Sankey joined forces with Howard Jones (ex-Killswitch Engage, Blood Has Been Shed) and Francesco Artusato (All Shall Perish) as co-founder and drummer of Devil You Know. In June 2016 it was announced that Sankey was no longer part of the band, for reasons unspecified and was replaced by former Trivium drummer Nick Augusto.
