Superdry products combine vintage Americana (culture), American styling with Japanese-inspired graphics. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange. History Cult Clothing Co was established by Ian Hibbs and Julian Dunkerton in Cheltenham in 1985. During this period, Dunkerton met James Holder (businessman), James Holder, who at the time was running skatewear brand Bench (British clothing brand), Bench. In 2003, they joined forces to found Superdry, opening its first store in Covent Garden in London in 2004. Under Theo Karpathios, a nationwide then global expansion of Superdry took place. The business floated on the London Stock Exchange in March 2010. James Holder (businessman)
James Holder is a British businessman who co-founded the fashion brand Superdry. Early life Born in Studley, Warwickshire, he was brought up in Stratford-upon-Avon and went to college in Leamington Spa where he studied graphic design. As a teenager, he enjoyed reading comics. Holder started his career in fashion by selling T-shirts from the back of his mother's car at BMX events. He went on to found the skateboarder label Bench. He was made bankrupt in 1998. While running Bench, Holder met Julian Dunkerton, who made a large order of Holder's products. They later travelled to Japan together before founding Superdry. Julian Dunkerton
Julian Marc Dunkerton (born March 1965) is a British businessman, and the co-founder of the fashion label Superdry. Early life Dunkerton's father Ivor and stepmother Susie founded and ran Dunkertons Organic Cider. Dunkerton moved to Herefordshire from London at the age of 14. He was educated at Ibstock Place School, London, Orleans Park School, Twickenham, from 11 to 14, and then the Minster School, Herefordshire.
