Sunbus was an Australian bus operator in the Australian state of Queensland. It operated in 5 regional areas across the state under contract to the Government of Queensland under the TransLink banner. As of 2022 Sunbus has changed its name as part of a business re-brand by the parent company, Kinetic. Sunbus has now been dissolved into the Kinetic brand with its fleet of buses reflecting this change. History In 1995, Harry Blundred, the proprietor of Thames Transit in the United Kingdom, was awarded the operating rights to route services in a number of regions in Queensland following the state government deciding to put the operation of these services out to tender. Sunbus were awarded the rights to operate services in the Cairns, Ipswich, Rockhampton, Sunshine Coast and Townsville regions. Thames Transit was a bus and coach company which operated in the Oxford area. As well as running a number of local services, it also ran a regular service to London (via the M40 motorway) under the ''Oxford Tube'' brand. The Volvo B12BLE is a low-entry city and suburban bus chassis launched in 2001 with a rear-mounted transverse engine. It superseded the Volvo B10BLE and is used as a base for single-decker buses in Europe and Australia. The B12BLE features the 12-litre Volvo DH12 engine, which is based on the D12 engine from Volvo FH trucks. The Pulitano Group is an Australian operator of buses and coaches in Queensland and Victoria. History The Pulitano Group was formed in 2003 when the various bus interests of the Pulitano family were combined. In Victoria the Pulitanos operated Australian Coach Travel, Cranbourne Transit, Mansfield-Mount Buller Bus Lines, Northern Bus Lines and US Bus Lines, and in Queensland Park Ridge Transit and Westside Bus Company. In July 2008 Northern Bus Lines was sold to Dysons and in December 2009 US Bus Lines was sold to Ventura Bus Lines.
