Suk Bahadur Rai
Private Aung San Thuriya Suk Bahdur Rai ( ne, सुक बहादुर राई, Burmese: ဆွတ်(ခ်)ဗဟာဒူးရိုင်း) (serial No.(kyee) 01914) was the only Gurkha (ဂေါ်ရခါး in Burmese) to have received Aung San Thuriya medal, the highest and most prestigious award in Myanmar (Burma) for gallantry and bravery in the face of enemy. He was killed in action while fighting against invading Kuomintang (KMT) troops of General Li Mi of China in the Battle of Tachileik Highway in Shan State, Myanmar in 1950. Throughout the action, he displayed conspicuous gallantry and responsible for killing several enemy combatants. Suk Bahdur Rai was honoured and awarded Aung San Thuriya medal posthumously by President Mahn Win Maung. Win Maung
Mahn Win Maung ( my, မန်းဝင်းမောင် ; 17 April 1916 – 4 July 1989) was a statesman who served as the third president of Burma. Early life Win Maung was an ethnic Karen and born on 17 April 1916 in the Irrawaddy delta, son of Daw Tharya and U Shwe Yin. He graduated with a B.A. from Rangoon University's Judson College in 1937. Career Between 1947 and 1956 he was variously Minister of Ministry of Mining and Labour, Minister of the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunication and Minister of the Ministry of Water, Air and Coastal Ship. He was selected by Prime Minister U Nu for the presidency in March 1957. He served for five years until 2 March 1962, when General Ne Win's military coup d'état ousted Nu's government. Li Mi (Republic Of China General)
Li Mi (; 4 November 1902 – 10 March 1973) was a high-ranking Nationalist general who participated in the anti-Communist Encirclement Campaigns, Second Sino-Japanese War and Chinese Civil War. He was one of the few Kuomintang commanders to achieve notable victories against both Chinese Communist forces and the Imperial Japanese Army. Following the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, he withdrew his forces to Burma and Thailand, where he continued to carry out guerrilla raids into Communist-held territory. Early life and career Li Mi was born in Tengchong County, Yunnan Province. He had a difficult childhood but his family managed to give him a modern education.
