Sudan
Sudan ( or ; ar, السودان, as-Sūdān, officially the Republic of the Sudan ( ar, جمهورية السودان, link=no, Jumhūriyyat as-Sūdān), is a country in Northeast Africa. It shares borders with the Central African Republic to the southwest, Chad to the west, Egypt to the north, Eritrea to the northeast, Ethiopia to the southeast, Libya to the northwest, South Sudan to the south and the Red Sea. Elhadi Adam
Elhadi Adam Elhadi ( ar, الهادي آدم الهادي), or Al-Hadi Adam Al-Hadi (1927-30 November 2006), was a Sudanese poet and song writer born in El-Helalelih village, Al Jazirah state in central Sudan on the bank of the Blue Nile. He is buried in Sheikh Mahgoub Cemetery in northern Khartoum. Career He joined Al-mahad Al-elaamy or Institute (now Omdurman Islamic University) in Omdurman and after he graduated he worked in many Sudanese newspapers. He later received a scholarship to complete his education in Egypt in Dar Al-eloom or the Housing of Science in Cairo; he received a diploma in Education and psychology from Ain Shams University in Cairo and then returned to Sudan and worked as a teacher in many Sudanese towns. One of his poems, called El-Helalelieaa, was a part of the curriculum in intermediate school. ''The Ambassadors'' is a 1903 novel by Henry James, originally published as a serial in the ''North American Review'' (NAR). Mazin Hamid () is a Sudanese musician, music producer and sound engineer. Known mainly through his popular music videos and live performances as singer and guitarist, he also has published music videos with political messages and composed the musical score for the award-winning Sudanese feature film ''Goodbye Julia''. Biography and career Hamid graduated from the Department of Engineering, University of Khartoum, but later turned to Sudanese music through his recordings and live performance as singer, guitarist, composer and producer of music videos. He is considered one of the first Sudanese artist to produce a video clip singing multiple vocal tracks for the same song on YouTube. His personal musical identity is known for his contemporary Sudanese pop music style as well as for his "deep vocals and beautiful classical lyrics." Mohammed Wardi
Mohammed Osman Hassan Salih Wardi ( ar, محمد عثمان حسن وردي; 19 July 1932 – 18 February 2012), also known as Mohammed Wardi, was a Nubian Sudanese singer, poet and songwriter. Looking back at his life and artistic career, Sudanese writer and critic Lemya Shammat called him an "inspirational figure in Sudanese music and culture, whose prolific talent and massive contribution remains unsurpassed in Sudan." Early life Wardi was born on 19 July 1932 in a small village called Sawarda close to Wadi Halfa in Northern Sudan. His mother, Batool Badri, died when he was an infant, and his father, Osman Hassan Wardi, died when he was nine years old. He was brought up in a diverse and culturally rich background and developed an interest in poetry, literature, music and singing. Mostafa Sid Ahmed
Mostafa Sid Ahmed ( ar, مصطفى سيد احمد, 1953 - 17 January 1996), also spelled Mustafa Sayyid Ahmad, was a popular Sudanese singer -songwriter and composer, active from the late 1970's onwards until his death in 1996. During his lifetime, he released more than a hundred songs. According to an article published during the Sudanese revolution of 2018/19, he was remembered "for performing a selective and expressive type of lyrics that touches upon the causes of ordinary and deprived people." Abdel Gadir Salim ( ar, عبد القادر سالم , born 1946) is a singer and bandleader of popular music from Sudan. He is one of the most well-known Sudanese singers in the West, having performed around the world and recorded in countries such as the United Kingdom and France. Biography Salim was born in the village of Dilling, Kordofan province, amidst the Nuba Mountains in the West of Sudan in 1946. He trained in both European and Arabic music at the Institute of Drama and Music in Khartoum, beginning with Oud at the behest of a friend. By 1971, he changed from composing urban-styled music to folkloristic rural tunes. Seeking out traditional and colloquial songs to perform, he began in his native Kordofan and in Darfur. Ayman Al-Rubo
Ayman al-Rubo (date of birth unknown) - also spelled Al Rubaa - is a Sudanese musician from Omdurman, the most populated city in Sudan on the western banks of the River Nile, opposite the national capital Khartoum. Since the late 2000s, he has been considered to be the founder of '' Zenig'' (also transliterated Zanig) as a new genre of the contemporary urban music of Sudan. Al-Rubo arguably played a key role for youth mobilisation and resistance against the Islamist regime of Omar Al Bashir as "''an icon of Khartoum’s underclass''." Rasha (born 1971, Omdurman, Sudan) as Rasha Sheikh Al Deen is a Sudanese musical artist and actress, known both for her music as well as for her appearance in the movies ''The Sheik and I'' (2012) and ''Lush'' (1999). Biography Rasha's singing in her native Sudanese Arabic combines the musical traditions of Sudan and South Sudan.
