Studeněves
Studeněves is a municipality and village in Kladno District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 500 inhabitants. Etymology The name is derived from the personal name Studen, meaning "Studen's village". The initial name of the village was ''Studena ves''. Geography Studeněves is located about north of Kladno and northwest of Prague. It lies in a flat agricultural landscape in the Prague Plateau. The highest point is at above sea level. History The first written mention of Studeněves is from 1372. Until 1623, the village was owned by various lower noblemen. In 1623, Studeněves was annexed to the Smečno estate, owned by the Martinic family. After that, the local fortress lost its purpose and was converted into a granary in the 18th century. In the 19th century, there was a large sugar factory in Studeněves, but it ceased to exist in 1929 as a result of the Great Depression. Obec (plural: ''obce'') is the Czech language, Czech and Slovak language, Slovak word for a municipality (in the Czech Republic, in Slovakia and abroad). Prague Plateau
The Prague Plateau ( cs, Pražská plošina) is a plateau and a geomorphological mesoregion of the Czech Republic. It is located in the area of Prague and in the Central Bohemian Region. Geomorphology The Prague Plateau is a mesoregion of the Brdy Macroregion within the Bohemian Massif. It is a denudation plateau with neogene aligned surfaces. Chomutov
Chomutov (; german: Komotau) is a city in the Ústí nad Labem Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 46,000 inhabitants. There are almost 80,000 inhabitants in the city's wider metropolitan area. Martinic Family
The House of Martinic (also: ''Martinicové'', ''z Martinicz'' or ''von Martinitz'') was a Czech noble family from Bohemia, claimed to be descended from the old Vršovci clan. The family have been part of the Bohemian ancient nobility. As of 1322, the family possessed the castle Martinice near Votice in the southern part of Central Bohemia. Members include Jaroslav Bořita of Martinice, killed in the 1618 Defenestration of Prague. Smečno () is a town in Kladno District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 2,000 inhabitants. The historic town centre is well preserved and is protected by law as an urban monument zone. Etymology The name is derived from the Czech word ''smyk'', i.e. 'skid'. There was probably a dreaded steep road where there was a risk of slipping. Geography Smečno is located about northwest of Kladno and northwest of Prague.
