Strathmerton Football Club
The Strathmerton Football Netball Club, nicknamed the ''Bulldogs'', is an Australian rules football and netball club that was established in 1894 and has been affiliated with the Picola & District Football League since 1994. The club is based in the small Victorian town of Strathmerton at the local Recreation Reserve and fields four football teams and seven netball teams. In 1947, the club unveiled a Roll of Honour of club footballers who enlisted for active service abroad in World War II. Picola & District Football League Clubs
Picola is a town in northern Victoria, Australia. The town is located in the Shire of Moira local government area, from the state capital, Melbourne. At the , Picola had a population of 334. Picola Post Office opened on 24 August 1878 and closed in late 2010. The Australia Post outlet was then taken over by the Picola Hotel, until early 2011. The hotel remains a community postal agent. The Picola Hotel offers a variety of services, from meals and functions, weekly raffles, and is now the local milk bar, community postal agent and V/Line ticket agency. The railway to Picola opened in 1896, and until the line closed in 1986, the town was a railhead for loading of wheat and livestock from the local area, and timber from the nearby Barmah National Park. David Bolton (Australian Footballer)
David Bolton (born 13 July 1960) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Geelong Football Club, Geelong and Sydney Swans, Sydney in the Australian Football League, Victorian/Australian Football League (VFL/AFL). A Geelong Under-19s player, Bolton was recruited to Woodville Football Club, Woodville by coach Rodney Olsson and he performed well in his three years at the club. Bolton, who played as a wingman, joined Geelong in 1984 and made his debut in the opening game of the season. Sydney acquired his services in 1986, the same year he represented Australia in the 1986 International Rules series, International Rules series against the touring Irish team. He was a member of the Sydney squad which placed second in the 1986 VFL season, 1986 home and away season, only to fall away in the finals. Darren McAsey
Darren McAsey (born 16 June 1965), also known as Harry McAsey, is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the Sydney Swans in the Victorian/Australian Football League (VFL/AFL). Career McAsey, the son of 1950s Footscray player Alan McAsey, played his junior football at Spotswood, but was residentially tied to the Swans, which recruited him into the Under 19s in 1982. He kicked 60 goals for the Under 19s in his first season and captained the side in 1983. During this time he was also a Victorian Teal Cup representative. He played reserves football in 1984, then made his senior debut in the opening round of the 1985 VFL season and made a total of 11 league appearances that year. Lance W. Oswald (18 February 1937 – 20 March 2019) was an Australian rules footballer who played for St Kilda Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Biography Oswald originally played for South Wanderers Junior Football Club in the Wangaratta Junior Football League (WJFL), winning the Under 18 WJFL best and fairest in 1950, before making his senior football debut with Wangaratta in the Ovens & Murray Football League(O&MFL) in 1953. James Carvel McColl, (17 June 1933 – 5 October 2013) was a distinguished contributor to Australian agricultural and resource-based industries and an Australian rules footballer who played with Essendon in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Family James Carvel McColl was born in Carlton, Victoria in 1933, the second of three children of Norman and Christina McColl, stalwarts of the Strathmore Presbyterian Church. Stephen Reynoldson
Steve Reynoldson (born 6 September 1962) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong and the Brisbane Bears in the Victorian/Australian Football League (VFL/AFL). Reynoldson, recruited from Strathmerton, was a centre half-forward who kicked 23 goals for Geelong in 1981. He played well in their qualifying final win over Collingwood that season with 17 disposals, eight marks and two goals. After six years at Geelong, Reynoldson joined the Brisbane Bears for their first league season in 1987. He was appointed deputy vice-captain and was used as a centre half-back by the Bears.
