A series of political debates were held between the Libertarian candidates for US president in the 2016 presidential election. The Libertarian Party of Virginia (LPVA) is the Virginia affiliate of the Libertarian Party. Ballot laws Ballot access laws Virginia has one of the most restrictive ballot access laws in the United States. According to the Code of Virginia subsectio24.2-101 without "major party" status for automatic ballot access in Virginia, the LPVA has had to gather petition signatures to get on the ballot. The requirement for statewide elections, such as the U.S. Senate, is 10,000 signatures, including at least 400 from each of Virginia's 11 congressional districts. However, after the Virginia Republican presidential primary in 2012, Virginia lawmakers reduced the 10,000 signature requirement for presidential candidates by half. Stossel (TV Series)
''Stossel'' was a weekly American talk show, hosted by John Stossel, highlighting current consumer issues with a libertarian viewpoint. The television program debuted on December 10, 2009, on the Fox Business Network and aired on Fridays. It originally aired at 8:00 pm EST, but was moved to 9:00 pm EST. In 2013, Fox News Channel began to replay the show which aired occasionally on the weekends. John Stossel moderated the first-ever nationally televised Libertarian presidential debate on April 1, 2016. The second part of the debate aired on April 8. The final episode premiered on December 16, 2016.
