Rosehill Gardens Racecourse
The Rosehill Gardens Racecourse is located in the Western Sydney suburb of Rosehill, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is operated by the Australian Turf Club. Rosehill holds horse races for thoroughbred gallopers on a grass surface. It is one of the two premier racecourses in Sydney, the other one being Randwick Racecourse. Research was a champion Australian Thoroughbred racehorse who as a three-year-old carved out a unique place in Australian racing history by becoming the only filly to win the AJC Derby-AJC Oaks double. Bred at Newhaven Park Stud, Boorowa, NSW she was sired by Imperial Prince (IRE) and her dam Outing was by Boucher. Research was trained by Warwick Farm-based trainer Clarrie Conners. In 1988 Research won most of the major spring three-year-old races in Sydney and Melbourne by winning the Group 1 Flight Stakes (over 1600 metres) at Randwick and the VRC Oaks (over 2500 metres) at Flemington. Miss Finland is a champion Australian Thoroughbred racehorse. She is a bay mare sired by Redoute's Choice out of Forest Pearl, who was a daughter of The Oaks winner Moonshell. Miss Finland was trained by top South Australian trainer David Hayes. At the age of two years, she won the AAMI Golden Slipper, the world's richest juvenile race, which is run over 1,200 metres, and ran second in the Blue Diamond Stakes. Verry Elleegant (foaled 12 October 2015) is a New Zealand-bred Australian-trained Thoroughbred racehorse that has won 11 Group One races. She was crowned the 2020/2021 Australian Racehorse of the Year, and was the winner of the 2021 Melbourne Cup and 2020 Caulfield Cup. Background Verry Elleegant is out of the New Zealand race mare Opulence, which was owned by her initial trainer, Nick Bishara. After Opulence won two races she was sold at the 2011 Mixed Sale at Karaka to Don Goodwin, who is the owner of Very Elleegant's sire, Zed. The horse was named after Goodwin's granddaughter Ellee.
