Storavatnet
Storavatnet is a lake just southwest of the village of Loddefjord in the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The long lake is located in the borough of Laksevåg, west of the city center of Bergen. There is a small man-made dam on the southwest coast, regulating the one natural outlet for the lake. The major highway junction of Norwegian County Road 562 and Norwegian National Road 555 lies on the northern shore of the lake. Route 562 heads north to the Askøy Bridge going to the island of Askøy. Route 555 heads west to the Sotra Bridge which goes to the island of Sotra. The terminal in Loddefjord, near the lake is the proposed end of the new Loddefjord branch of the Bergen Light Rail system. Sotra Bridge
The Sotra Bridge ( no, Sotrabrua) is a suspension bridge which crosses Knarreviksundet between Knarrevik in Øygarden Municipality and Drotningsvik on the mainland of Bergen Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It carries two road lanes and two narrow pedestrian paths of National Road 555, providing a fixed link for the archipelago of Sotra. The bridge is long, has a main span of and a clearance of . In 2007, it had an average 25,494 vehicles per day. The bridge was brought into use on 11 December 1971, although not officially opened until 1972. It cost 40 million Norwegian krone (NOK) to build, of which NOK 23.5 million was paid for with tolls, which were collected until 1983. Askøy Bridge
The Askøy Bridge ( no, Askøybroen) is a suspension bridge that crosses the Byfjorden between the municipalities of Bergen and Askøy in Vestland county, Norway. It is long and has a main span of . Its span was the longest for any suspension bridge in Norway, until the Hardanger Bridge was opened in August 2013. Now the bridge is the third longest in Norway. It carries two lanes of County Road 562 and a combined pedestrian and bicycle path. The bridge's two concrete pylons are tall and are located at Brøstadneset in Bergen municipality (on the Bergen Peninsula of the mainland) and Storeklubben in Askøy municipality (on the island of Askøy). Bergen Light Rail
Bergen Light Rail ( no, Bybanen) is a light rail system in Bergen, Norway. The first stage of the project was a twenty-station stretch between the city center and Lagunen Storsenter, where the first 15 stations comprising a stretch opened in 2010, and the second was a stretch from Nesttun to Lagunen which opened in June 2013. A third stretch from Lagunen to Bergen Airport, Flesland opened in 2017. The second line between Kaigaten and Fyllingsdalen opened on 21 November 2022. Further plans for the project involve mooted extensions to Åsane and Storavatnet. Plans for rail transit have existed since the 1970s, following the 1965 closing of the Bergen Tramway. Norwegian County Road 562
County Road 562 ( no, Fylkesvei 562) is a county road in Vestland county, Norway. The long road runs from the northern shore of the lake Storavatnet in the city of Bergen on the Bergen Peninsula, over the Askøy Bridge, and across the western part of the island of Askøy, ending at the village of Skråmestø. Prior to 1 January 2010, the road was a Norwegian national road and it was called ''National Road 562'' ( no, Riksvei 562). On 1 January 2010, it was transferred to the county. Route The road branches off from National Road 555 and runs through the Olsvik Tunnel, over Byfjorden on the Askøy Bridge, and then through the Stongafjell Tunnel. Norwegian National Road 555
National Road 555 ( no, Riksvei 555) is a long national road which runs from the city center of Bergen to Kolltveit in Øygarden Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. Route In Bergen, the road has two branches, one two-lane from Nøstet via O.J. Brochs gate and on four-lane from Nygårdstangen, and the interchange with E16 and E39. The latter runs through the Nygård Tunnel before merging with the other branch and running across the six-lane Puddefjord Bridge. There, County Road 540 branches off into the Løvstakken Tunnel and County Road 582 branches off towards Laksevåg. 555 continues through the Damsgård Tunnel as a four-lane motorway, and at Nygård traffic towards the city center passes a toll collection and County Road 582 again intersects with 555. Laksevåg
Laksevåg is a borough of the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The borough is located in the western part of the municipality. Historically, the area was called ''Laxevaag'', and it was a separate municipality until 1972 when it was merged into Bergen. The borough of Laksevåg has residential areas on the hillside of the mountain Damsgårdsfjellet facing the Puddefjorden. By the fjord itself are several industrial buildings, many of them connected with the maritime industry. The rococo, rococo-style Damsgård Manor is located in the borough.
