Pia Nilsson (golfer)
Pia Nilsson (born 8 May 1958) is a Sweden, Swedish professional golfer and coach. She was one of the two players, who were the first female Swedes to play collegiate golf at a University in the United States and the first Swede to captain a European Solheim Cup team. Early years Born in Malmö, Nilsson began playing golf at around 10 years of age, with her family at Torekov Golf Club in another part of Scania in southern Sweden, when they spend their summers there. At 14 years of age, her handicap had gone down to 10. In her golf career, she later also came to represent Ystad Golf Club, Jönköping Golf Club, Ljunghusen Golf Club and Lidingö Golf Club. Swedish Golf Tour (women) Events
The Swedish Golf Tour, currently titled as the Cutter & Buck Tour for sponsorship reasons, is a developmental professional golf which was formerly operated by Svenska Golftourerna AB, as well as being owned equally by the Swedish Golf Federation and the PGA of Sweden. Since 2018 it has been operated by the Swedish Golf Federation. The tour is designed to help Swedish golfers to reach the standard of play needed to qualify for the European Tour or the Challenge Tour. The events on the SGT are included in the Nordic Golf League, which is one of four European Tour-recognised third-tier tours, and is run in collaboration by the national golf associations of Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden. The four third-level tours carry Official World Golf Ranking points. Each year, usually in October, a 2-stage qualifying school tournament is held, which gives players an opportunity to qualify for the SGT. Marie Louise Inger Wennersten From (born 17 March 1958) is a retired Swedish professional golfer who played on the Ladies European Tour and LPGA Tour. Early life and amateur career Wennersten was born in Uddevalla on the west-coast of Sweden and played golf from age 10. As an amateur, representing Lyckorna Golf Club in Ljungskile south of Uddevalla, she won the Swedish Junior Match-play Championship in 1977 and the Swedish Match-play Championship in 1981, successfully defending the title in 1982. She represented Sweden at the European Lady Junior's Team Championship four times and was part of the Swedish team winning the 1978 event. The 1987 Swedish Golf Tour was the second season of the Swedish Golf Tour, a series of professional golf tournaments for women held in Sweden. Tournament Director for a second year was Ulf Jacobsson, and player representative was Liv Wollin. Tournaments were played over 54 holes with no cut, the SI and LET events over 72 holes with cuts. The 1989 Swedish Golf Tour was the fourth season of the Swedish Golf Tour, a series of professional golf tournaments for women held in Sweden and Denmark. The tour shared Tournament Directors with the 1988 Swedish Golf Tour, Arne Andersson, Bengt Norström and Claes Grönberg. The player council consisted of Pia Nilsson, Maria Lindbladh, Viveca Hoff and Liv Wollin. Tournaments were played over 54 holes with no cut, the SI and LET events over 72 holes with cuts. The Grundig Team Trophy was a limited field best ball event played over 36 holes. Anna-Carin Jonasson (born 19 November 1971) is a retired Swedish professional golfer. In 1994 she won the Spanish Ladies Amateur and a bronze medal at the Espirito Santo Trophy. She played on the Ladies European Tour and the Ladies Asian Golf Tour between 1995 and 1998. Amateur career Jonasson had a successful amateur career and won the Finnish Ladies Open Amateur Championship in 1988 and was a semi-finalist at the 1992 SM Match Play.
