Stiltskin
Stiltskin are a Scottish rock band, who first achieved widespread popularity in the mid-1990s. Stiltskin are led by frontman Ray Wilson, the only constant member throughout the band's history. They are best known for their 1994 UK chart-topper, "Inside". Career The band was put together in 1994 by multi-instrumentalist/songwriter Peter Lawlor to front the record he had made of the music he had written for the British Levi's television advertisement, "Creek". The resulting single, "Inside" topped the UK Singles Chart in 1994, but the band failed to produce further matching chart success with the follow-up single "Footsteps" reaching No. 34. The Ambrosian Singers performed Lawlor's choir-like intro vocals to "Inside". All instruments on the band's hit "Inside" were played by Peter Lawlor; this was also the case on the album track "An Illusion". Inside (Stiltskin Song)
"Inside" is a song by Scottish rock band Stiltskin, the first single from their first studio album, ''The Mind's Eye (album), The Mind's Eye''. It was written by Peter Lawlor for the British Levi Strauss & Co., Levi's advert "Creek". "Inside" is a post-grunge song with lyrics about escaping oppression. All instruments on this recording were played by Peter Lawlor, except lead vocals by Ray Wilson (musician), Ray Wilson, who was to become the new Genesis (band), Genesis singer after the departure of Phil Collins. The introductory chorus is sung by the Ambrosian Singers. "Inside" was released as a single on 25 April 1994 and spent one week at number one on the UK Singles Chart the following month, becoming the fourth song to top the listing following use in a Levi's advert. ''The Mind's Eye'' is the debut studio album by the band Stiltskin. The album was driven by the success of the single "Inside", which reached number one in the UK. Raymond Wilson (born 8 September 1968) is a Scottish singer and guitarist, vocalist in the post-grunge band Stiltskin and in Genesis from 1996 to 2000. Early career and Stiltskin Before starting a band called Guaranteed Pure in the 1990s, which featured himself along with Paul Holmes (keyboards), Steve Wilson (guitars), John Haimes (bass) and Chris Cavanagh (drums)., he joined Edinburgh Band Strategy in 1987 recording and independently releasing a demo titled Second Move. Guaranteed Pure released an album called ''Swing Your Bag'', the title track of which was included on a compilation album on the label of Fish entitled ''The Funny Farm Project : Outpatients '93''. Irvin Duguid
Irvin Duguid (born 18 December 1969, in Aberchirder, Aberdeenshire) is a Scottish musician and composer. He studied piano and violin at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow before going on to become keyboard player in the live line-up of Stiltskin, a rock band with the number 1 hit single "Inside" in the UK in 1994. Duguid went on to work with other Scottish acts such as Gun (later to change their name to g.u.n. in the wake of the Dunblane massacre) and then Fish (singer), Fish (ex-Marillion vocalist). Duguid has since appeared on several albums by Stiltskin's old vocalist Ray Wilson (musician), Ray Wilson, who for a short time in the late 1990s was lead singer with Genesis (band), Genesis. Ambrosian Singers
The Ambrosian Singers are an English choral group based in London. History They were founded after World War II in England. One of their co-founders was Denis Stevens (1922–2004), a British musicologist and viola player who joined the BBC Music Department in 1949 and developed programs of Renaissance and early Baroque music. Stevens conducted them from 1956 to 1960. The other was John McCarthy (1919–2009), a professional tenor soloist. McCarthy continued to conduct them until the late 1980s. During the 1960s the choir called on the services of between 600 and 700 singers. Aubrey Nunn
Aubrey Nunn (born 19 November 1966, Bloomsbury, North London, England) is an English bass guitarist, songwriter, producer, and educator. He is best known as a long-serving former member of the British band Faithless. Lawrie MacMillan is a Scottish freelance bass guitarist and bass teacher from Rosyth in Fife, Scotland.
