Stiffed (band)
Stiffed was an American punk rock band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They incorporated both New Wave and No Wave elements into their work. Founded by vocalist Santi White also known as Santigold, the original band lineup also included guitarist Matt Schleck, bassist Chris Shar and drummer Chuck Treece. The band's "stripped-raw rhythm and eerie vocals ..created so much buzz in the underground rock scenes in New York and Philadelphia that record producer Ryko and publicity hotshots Girlie Action (the White Stripes and Ryan Adams are also clients) approached the band hoping to distribute and represent Stiffed's music." Santi White (born September 25, 1976), known professionally as Santigold (formerly Santogold), is an American singer, songwriter and record producer. Chuck Treece
Chuck Treece (born May 30, 1964) is a session musician and professional skateboarder from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1984, he became famous for being the first African-American skateboarder to be featured on the cover of ''Thrasher'' magazine. His musical credits include starting the 1980s skate punk band McRad, remixing songs for Amy Grant and Sting, playing the bass line on "The River of Dreams" by Billy Joel, filling in on drums at a Pearl Jam concert, and touring with Urge Overkill, Underdog and Bad Brains. In 2010, he was awarded a Pew Fellowships in the Arts. Chuck currently plays bass in a thrash metal band called ACTiVATE. Chris Shar (born Christopher Joshua Shar, November 14, 1978) is an American multi-instrumentalist and vocalist. Shar was born and raised on the Jersey shore, predominantly in Toms River, New Jersey. Shar learned to play the drumkit at a young age, and played in a high school band. Shar lived in Philadelphia for a number of years where he joined the band Man Man. Shar is a former member of the bands Stiffed, Man Man (under pseudonym Sergei Sogay),Santigold, and most recently the drummer in Pours, an indie rock band from Burlington, Vermont.
